August is already here. The Wheel of the Year has shifted, "turning on" the work of new gender roles.
If we look closely at the natural changes that have taken place and turn to the traditional occupations of our ancestors, we will see that it is entirely logical that August is a favorable period for working out the role of Landlady and Landlord.
What happens in nature at this time and what were our ancestors doing in a traditional society?
In August, the so-called period of the first harvest begins. The organization of the process is very important here. The crop must be harvested and properly placed for storage so that the stocks are enough for the winter and spring. Only a good owner can cope with this task.
But we remember that we are considering the gender roles of the Wheel of the Year in a broader and more modern sense. Today, we don't have to catch the mammoth and keep fire in the cave... literally. But if we refract the traditional occupations of our ancestors to the present, we will see that, in fact, not so much has changed.
Who is the Landlady? The Landlady is a woman who knows how to manage properly the resources that she has. Here we should understand the resources very broadly. It can be both tangible and intangible resources (knowledge, appearance, education, social connections and acquaintances, abilities, skills, etc.). And do not confuse this role with housewife!
The role of the Landlady is very popular in modern western society. Glossy magazines show us successful business ladies. This is the image of the Landlady. But this does not mean that a woman can be realized as a Landlady only in connection with a career. A good housewife can also fulfill this role very successfully. Maximum efficiency of what you do is what is important for this role.
The Landlady knows her strengths well, she knows how to organize her life correctly with maximum efficiency. If, for example, she is good at making money, then she does not have to deal with housekeeping. She can hire someone else for this.
If you constantly feel a shortage of resources (most often this is a lack of money), you do not know how to claim what belongs to you, most likely your Landlady’ role is not sufficiently developed. Here the problem is not only in organizing your time, the proper allocation of resources, but also in that you must learn to understand what you need and learn to demand from others what they owe you, the ability to determine the price of your work.
The opposite situation will be if the role of the Landlady is hypertrophied. Such a woman will think that everything in this world has its price and can be bought. In addition, this woman behaves very like a man, this is a man in a skirt.
A man's role is the role of the Landlord. This role assumes the ability of a man to take responsibility not only for himself, his words and promises, his family, but also for a wider range of people whether he knows them personally or not. It's like the head of the enterprise. He calculates the consequences of his actions not only for the immediate environment, but for other people.
Here we have a very wide area of responsibility. This is the most social role, which significantly affects the world around us. Accordingly, when this role is hypertrophied, the man seeks to control absolutely everything, although this is practically impossible. In the opposite situation, when the role of the owner is not worked out to the necessary extent, a man is not able to calculate the consequences of his actions for others.
Thus, the role of the Landlord is based on the principle of expanded responsibility.
And here I again allow myself a small disclaimer. When I write about the gender roles of the Wheel of the Year, I do not aim to drag you into the distant past, in the days of matriarchy or patriarchy. Rather, it is about which facets of our character are most easily and harmoniously subject to improvement in a given period, when natural rhythms are most favorable for this. When we talk about roles as female or male, I would interpret this as a manner of manifestation of certain qualities and properties of our character. However, if you are more comfortable in traditional understandings of gender roles, you may perceive it that way. Our world is constantly changing and our identity is changing with it. This is a normal process. In some countries it goes faster, in some slower, and this is also normal. Therefore, as always, I urge you to "refract" everything written under your own reality 😉
