The phrase 'shots fired' refers to comedians being unkind in the jokes they tell at others' expense, and has for a long time in show business. It's very difficult to believe that it's just an unfortunate coincidence she used that phrase referring to that event, in which gun shots were fired, however.
The born conspiracy theorist in me is struggling to buy that story.
Something isn't right about any of this, I completely agree.
