This is not a new concept to me. Here in Pakistan non memon people give alot of money of weeding, birthdays and etc as a gift while memon give alot of money on sickness and hospital bills. When a memon child her admission in university the whole memon society gift him/her. Same with business opening. I suggest you to study menon society of Pakistan. They are ahead of time from the rest of Pakistan in sense of financial understanding and support to there people. In short: They truely support there society and there people as much as they can.
