An internal hatred

'All I want is to be left alone,' Riku thought to himself as he ducked inside his small, dilapidated shack. He had been at war with his parents for the past week now. Ever since Riku had been kicked out of school, the storm had been looming; things were just waiting to come to a head. Today was the day. This would be the day Riku lost his mind.

He hadn't dared to step foot outside in the past few days. He knew his parents were planning his death. They wanted it to be brutal; they wanted it to be painful. They wanted him dead. Dead. Dead. Dead.

Riku struggled to get the word out of his mind. The word echoed inside of his head. Dead, dead, DEAD, DEAD, DEAD!

The young boy was breathing heavily. His chest was heaving. His face was wet. His small tears had turned into a full force sheet of tears. Riku was inconsolable. He was facing an emotional storm that was tearing him apart. He fell to his hands and knees, his body buckling under its own weight. Pain shot through his limbs as his joints made sickening cracks. He continued to ramble on, his incoherent words turning into a chorus of grief. It was a beautiful funeral dirge. Each syllable was a death of his own. Each utterance was a funeral for who he used to be.

"Stealing, lying, cheating, that's who I am."

Riku's was a voice of despair, a voice of uncertainty. This voice was cut short. Riku's own words stopped him as he slumped to his side. His chest was heaving. He was calm now. He had underwent a real emotional rollercoaster. He was so happy with what he had said. He was so happy with what he had felt. He was so happy with what he finally was.

Riku was dead.

This writing is mad phenomenal. The rhythm, the flow, the word choice, the use of language is glorious. The story is a long one, and it is one that will stick with you. This is a story of something much bigger than the characters themselves. He has emotionally connected with the reader because the characters are like us but just a little bit more. This is a truly great story.

This week's authors will be ranting below, so once again, congratulations to all the authors who submitted novels.

Dextom – I also like the creativity you showed with the way in which you managed to make what seemed like the simple routine into such a powerhouse of raw emotion, it really captivated me! The three person's details are also amazing, I thought.

Wow. Amazing. Brilliant, dextom. I loved it, really. I tend to prefer thrillers to emotional dramas but I loved this story. I really liked the different perspectives and you pulled it off superbly. What you achieved with just a week's worth of work is great and I really hope you will work on it and make it better. But even as it is, I think it is a masterpiece!

I think that Death was a good way to end it, it rounded up the story and was almost like a cliffhanger. So Riku's parents will be after him again and this time they will succeed [I hope I gave the impression it wasn't too violent]. I linked a tumblr account for your story as well, for any future updates you may have on it

Dextom – This is just my opinion, that's all, but I found it very surprising that your story which is so dark, depressing, short and written in such a short period had the most amount of likes. Of course, the author being Silver probably played a part in that.

In the future, I'd love to see a longer version of one of your stories. The world is just begging for more. We're still waiting for the big one we know you have in you.
