Friedrich Fröbel
Friedrich Wilhelm August Fröbel was born on 21 April 1782 in Oberweißbach/Thüringer Wald. He died on 21 June 1852 in Marienthal. He was a German pedagogue. He was particularly deserving because he not only recognized the importance of early childhood, but also promoted the realization of these insights by creating a system of activities, songs, and "gifts to play". Fröbel is the founder of the "Kindergarten". The first was founded in 1840 in Bad Blankenburg. It differed from the existing "Kinderbewahranstalten" (children's institutions) in its pedagogical concept. This was associated with the expansion of the range of tasks from supervision to the tasks of education, upbringing and care.

Besonders verdient machte er sich, weil er die Bedeutung der frühen Kindheit nicht nur erkannt, sondern durch die Schaffung eines Systems von Beschäftigungen, Liedern, und „Spielgaben“ die Realisierung dieser Erkenntnisse vorangetrieben hat. Fröbel ist der Begründer des „Kindergartens“. Der Erste entstand im Jahre 1840 in Bad Blankenburg. Von den damals bereits existierenden „Kinderbewahranstalten“ unterschied sich dieser durch die pädagogische Konzeption. Damit verbunden war die Erweiterung des Aufgabenspektrums von der Betreuung zu den Aufgaben von Bildung, Erziehung und Betreuung.
