Have you ever seen such beautiful lanterns? The hundreds of lanterns have more than 150,000 LED lights. The lanterns light up the path from the parking lot to the entrance to the park. You go so slow it seems like mile!! It's not! I can assure you!

There was a nightly performance on the amphitheater stage of different forms of traditional dance, an amazing display of martial arts and drums. I missed the acrobats while I went back to some of the displays that were now unattended.

This is the Panda Paradise. It changed colors every minute or so and was just teaming with Panda Bears. Can you see them all?
There was a rather large pavilion where artists were carving/painting and everything in between, and there were booths set up so you could view their merchandise. I thought it was rather reasonable in price.

Say this is an amazing show! When I move I am certainly going to get over there! I just cannot believe how many lights there are! How they do the cords I have no clue! I really like how vivid the colors are!! I love the shot with all of the lanterns on the ceiling! I cant wait to see it first hand! Great post, Sunshine.
Congratulations on getting the Brain Teaser! I was wondering if I was being too easy this week, but, the truth is that as easy as it is, it also is a little tricky. So good for you! I was hoping everyone is not getting tired of the Brain Teasers yet. They are fun to see how many people actually stop and take a try. :))
There are so many full-size lanterns at this glorious event, I imagine it would have been a power bill nightmare years ago, some time before LED came in. However, in saying that, I still prefer the light on the incandescent than the LED. Softer lighting would really give these lanterns a different glow, I would venture to guess. The light is so bright, in some places it shines through is what I was actually trying to point out. The cords are probably preset for displays right there on the premises as it is a park used for events. Probably much like the floor plugs we have in the middle of our living rooms and such. Set in place.
I really didn't get the shot I wanted with the lanterns on the ceiling. This was the weekend I forgot my camera (hello?? I guess I was still feeling the effects of being sick!! I never hardly ever leave home without it!) and so these were all with the cell phone. I was so terribly disappointed, but, then again, there is always next year to look forward to. Right? Who knows!? Perhaps next year they will be better than ever. I can hardly wait to get a shot of those lanterns and the dragon, two of the mainstays of the displays they do. I can hardly wait for you to see it first-hand also. You will be mesmerized! I just know it. Like a kid in a candy store!

This truly was a lot of fun and I have been waiting for Christmas to subside so that I could post it. It actually ends tomorrow, although as Chinese New Year is on February 5th this year, I think they should have left it up a few weeks more.
I can imagine that you will be headed towards Chinatown in or around that date. It will be fun and they always do it up right! I will actually be away for a couple weeks then, so, I will totally miss it here in Washington, DC, which always has a great show. Maybe next year. Although I was sent away last year too... North Carolina does this every year, so if you happen to be in the Raleigh-Durham area... well, you know where to go in December. :-)

Anyway, lanterns are more of a thing for mid-autumn than Chinese New Year here
Perhaps that is why they have them at this time of year instead of Chinese New Year? Perhaps. Hopefully the decorations won't be as big a disappointment as you heard.

Few things in life are better than making someone laugh, and one of those, is making you laugh. You seem to be on of a good humor on a regular basis. I'm sorry I live so far off in the western sphere here, but will continue to connect via little wires whenever possible. What fun it is ! Though I can relate to the not getting to it enough stuff, and double though....I would not call it lazy, just busy and so much going on in life. We push on into the world of Steem ( :

Well now, that's true! I am actually pretty happy by Nature, although I can get my dander up on occasion. It's true. There are so many people that are busy right now, or work with holidays and have lost the habit getting on steemit. That and steem being low has scared a bunch of people away, or at least made it not so enticing to be here. I guess I just like the social media aspect of it, although the crypto is intriguing. But, I'm not here for the money, so it is not as big a deal for me, as I don't have anything invested of my own here. Anything that I have made, what started from nothing, so the only thing I have invested is my time.
I hope that more people will return to the platform, but I suppose everything has can expiration date, much like the milk in the refrigerator. Oh well, you write it and I'll read it. Even if I get there a day late and a dollar short. Always good to see you!

Surely the Chinese love colors (sometimes strident, in my opinion). Your Chinese market is full of charming pictures.
A few days ago @old-guy-photos told me I hit two birds with one shot. It is also true for you (it was about challenges).
I have not posted today ... I was in the train for almost eight hours. And I will be away from home for two months.
Oh I am not worried about you posting or not it to the challenge. I am more concerned about the reason for being on the train for 8 hours. I was hoping that perhaps it is a vacation, but part of me fears that you may have gone home to see your mother again.
Whatever the reason, my wish is that it be for something good.
I wish you well and hope to hear from you soon.

I'm in Iasi, where I've been many times, I think I'll stay here all winter until March.
I do understand the effects of Alzheimers or Dementia. My father had it for over 10 years, and was really pretty bad for the last four. He was a very strong man, which worked against him in his disease. He lived much longer than most in a very bad state.
My heart goes out to you. It is a very devastating disease and offers no pity.

Thank you so much @singa! It truly was larger than life and sooooo colorful! It was like candy for the eyes. They even had Cinderella and the pumpkin. I went up inside the pumpkin and had my picture taken!
I was trying to get back there to take more pictures as I really missed a lot, but it ends on Sunday, so I may have to wait until next year. At least I can look forward to it, right? It is far enough south of here that the nights are never too cold, so it makes it a good photographic opportunity. I had no idea it would be so colorful. I look forward to seeing your post!

Dragons!!! Lights!!! I waaaaaaaaaaaaaant!!! I wish the asian community make things like that here!!
Oh, the dragon was totally amazing and they had him so perfectly displayed to reflect his awesome self and make his bigger than life self spectacular! It was a hit, for sure! The lanterns that were lining the pathway were just so overwhelmingly stunning as they followed in your footsteps.
I had never been there before as it is not here in Washington, DC, but in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, but, I would travel there again for this show. It really was worthy. Chinese New Year is on February 5th! Be on the lookout in Pureto Rico, there has got to be some sort of celebration!
If there is, I hope I get pictures!!!

My goodness, what a wonderful, adventure visiting this Chinese Lantern parade. I have never seen anything like this. Did you spend hours visiting each area? It looks huge! And the markets with the craft, I would love to see the glass and painting. This looks like such a happy fun venue. What a post full of so much to read, I could read it a couple of times and still not see everything. Thank you so much! This was a surprise visit to this place in actuality! I was visiting down there and it was suggested that we go. I couldn't believe my eyes when I came upon this! It truly was quite the adventure and I have seen the lanterns on Chinese New Year, here in Washington, DC but this festival is built around the Christmas Holiday. It was amazing.
I DID spend hours at each area, I am sure it is obvious. I had to hold back from putting too many pictures up. There was just so much to see, it was like eye candy. I too was taken with the artisans. The work they were doing was so intricate, I was truly surprised at their level of skill. They claim it usually only takes an hour to go through the whole thing, but, I can tell you that it took me closer to five. I wanted to look at everything and there were was so much detail, you had to look twice.

Spectacular photos! That's one thing I haven't yet managed to do well, night photography. I need to learn a bit more about my camera to get better results! :-)
This week I have no market shots. Maybe next week I'll find something.
No worries! It is hard to do it every week, although I do have quite a few who never miss. Night photography took me a while, but, I can say it was trial and error and practicing different things until one day, it all clicked.
Learning everything about your camera is by far the best way to do it. I use YouTube a lot to get a better understanding of things.
Just remember that it doesn't have to be a typical market. We kind of stretch it here. You can get as inventive as you want. This is not a market, but, I did pay to get in here, so therefore it works and it did have a little artisan area, although I didn't focus on it. Thanks for coming by and stroll through some of the other posts, you may see something you like! ;)

The festival was a lot of fun and it was the first time I had gone there, so I walked away quite happy with the entire experience. I hope to go there next year and look at it from a different perspective for photographic opportunities.

What incredible photos! The colors are simply amazing! That must have been an amazing sight to see!
Thank you so much! It truly was a spectacular show of color I would have to say that it was the prettiest eye candy that I've seen in a long time. The sheer magnitude of their size alone, especially the Dragon was enough to make you sit up and take notice.
The dragon on the water was over 200 ft long. Coupled with his reflection and it really made for a phenomenal sight. I hope to go back next year as they change the entire thing every year. Thank you for stopping by for a visit. I hope you have a most wonderful day.

The Chinese culture is really beautiful in my eyes. There is so much artwork that is intricate and so delicate. These lanterns were all shipped over from China and assemble here in the United States. The pandas were especially nice and I really like them too. So many different ones!
The dragon was pretty amazing in size alone! I think he was over 200 feet long! That is quite huge! His reflection in the water also made him look even larger than life. The umbrellas were also a favorite of mine!

Thank you so much! It really is a colorful festival and everywhere you looked, the color was yelling out to you. It was fun too and it was a joyful night for all of the adults as well as the children. I didn't put up pictures of the performers because frankly, I had so many pictures and I still wanted people to read it. I didn't want them to abandon the post halfway through.
I like posts that have enough pictures to look at. I can remember I was the queen of the one picture post for a while. I had no idea!! :)))

Oh, yay! I was hoping you would post these beautiful angels! They are the sweetest thing and I actually had no idea that there were tins ones to be had. They really add to the old-timey look ! I am on the hunt for another angel, as I have told you because mine decided she had burned the candle at both ends for too long. It has been a long and wonderful life as she has adorned many a tree, but, when she went unlit this year, it was sad.

Your post is spectacular this week. What a find. I'm in a Chinese Neighborhood in KL and the decorations are coming out, but nothing like that so far. Loving the panda tree. I used to go see them at the SD Zoo and this is actually quite realistic!
