Throughout our lives, we go through a lot - physically, emotionally, mentally. It’s only a matter of time before it starts affecting us in ways we can never imagine. The impact of everything we have to deal with is often too much for us to handle all by ourselves.
Almost every single one of my friends has struggled with mental health issues. As have I. And yet, there’s still a lot of stigma around this topic.

Today, October 10th, marks Mental Health Day. A day dedicated to mental health education, spreading awareness on a currently very touchy subject and gathering support for the ones who need it. Most of us have struggled mentally at some point in our lives. It’s not always easy to share our internal battles with our family and friends which is why it’s essential to have the proper resources and help we need in order for us to get through and survive.
Here are some of the symptoms that might indicate an underlying mental health condition:
- inability to cope with daily tasks;
- thoughts of harming yourself or others;
- frequent feelings of anxiety, fear, sadness, worry;
- decrease in social activities or no desire to be around people;
- substance abuse;
- changes in work or school performance;
- changes in sleeping, eating habits;
If you are someone who struggles with mental health or in need of someone to talk to, reach out to your closest ones - you’ll be met with more understanding than you think.
