Can Bitcoin End Racism And The Rest Of the Segregation?

in #money4 years ago

Hey Jessicsts

The world has seen a lot of racial tension in the media of late; I wouldn't say its unwarranted and that racism hasn't been there until now, it has, it always will if we don't take steps to change the way we govern ourselves, society and the way we integrate all cultures of society.

Racism is sparked primarily by the gross inequality we see today, the gap between the haves and the have nots keeps getting bigger, and the ability to move up the class structures by merit alone is damn near impossible.

Nepotism rules and because of it certain races have seen a better go of it than others, as long as they money printing is in the hands of a certain type of people they will always cater to their immediate network, it's just how it is, and it's not going to change.

Racism is the perfect cover-up

Racism is a very dismissive term, we think by calling someone out as racist, we've actually done something, we've achieved a goal we've stamped out hate and bigotry when in fact we've done absolutely nothing to help those who are systematically oppressed. Racism is a closed loop that allows the masses to keep fighting with one another and not looking up from the game show to see how they are all getting fucked over inv various degrees.

Racism keeps us from actually working together in a constructive manner to alleviate poverty and suffering and give people the change to build their own communities and livelihoods.

Racism comes from all sides

I've grown up in a country that has turned racism into a fine art, ah if racism was an Olympic sport, South Africa would dominate. We live with a lot of pain and resentment from all sides, and it has stuck with us to this day. As a so-called "coloured" person, I've had the ability to integrate with several communities who divide their lines by race and seen the prejudice on all sides.

I can tell you it's not pretty; everyone is trying to put the other down to move up the totem pole in some way shape or form, its exhausting in a way to even watch as a lot of the effort people put into these fights are wasted and could be put to more constructive use.

Coming together and finding common ground

When I joined the Bitcoin community and started to talk with people all over the world about this fantastic technology, I noticed its people from all races, coloured, cultures and creeds coming together in a positive manner to affect change.

I'm not saying owning crypto doesn't make you a racist, and there's no racists holding crypto, what I'm saying is, we've found common ground, the push for a new financial system all of us can share in and benefit from using and put our differences aside to achieve that goal.

Everyone has a part to play in the growth of BTC, and there is so much positivity and energy in this space, I can't help but think the rest of the world needs to get in on this. Our great war is here; this is our regime-change war; this is our civil rights movement; this is our fight for freedom.

If we can change the money, we can change the world!

Have your say

What do you good people of HIVE think? Can we all get along under a new umbrella?

I joined Hive and noticed pretty much the same thing. People hate each other here but it is more about views and individuals, rather than the collective hate that racism and nepotism cause.

Oh yeah, hate, jealousy, fear and wanting power doesn't go away but like you said its more towards individuals and beliefs and keeping people accountable then just general hate for a group

Yup. Hate individuals and not collectives.

Lol its hard, I mean I do hate david Luiz, but its also hard not to hate Arsenal at this point

Fuck I hate those guys.

I agree with you dear friend, I also think Bitcoin and why not including Hive could make end to racism and segregation. Moreover having a common sense of interest can also hide some real thinking... That's why we only focus on one common affair. And it not too bad, contrary is good and maybe that can be a solution to think and speak more about all together.

I think any community project could have that effect so technically yes HIVE could do it but I focused on Bitcoin because it is the biggest most decentralised and our best bet at achieving sound money, without BTC there is no HIVE, we know this and its why every crypto community should be supporting BTC!

I think its been too long that we have fought each other and wrestled with myths of opportunity rather than crafting opportunities for ourselves and here is our change to push change from the ground up

Of course, BTC is the Mother, the central and as you said, we can fight together for the advancement.
BTC was created and a gift for the world and humanity. The question is, what can we do now with this to the continuity of improvement?

I see it was a way to strip tax revenue from governments to start building wealth in alternative economy for people to grow their own communities and pay for goods and services between them where we can turn certain areas into autonomous zones where they are self governed and opt out of the system

It is a revolutionary project. I hope that we will go towards evolution and the great change.
We have already started, let's continue with the rules.

Yes now its time to build ontop of it by investing a small amount that you can afford to hold in BTC and wont miss and then to help educate those who are willing to learn and naturally also start to spend it so we reward others in something we think is valuable for the value they bring. If every African bought $1 of BTC in 2010 oh how different the world would be here right now

Maybe a small step. The only way away from this idiot thoughts is to be together and know people. No one can hate a friend.
But will btc be the solution - no I do not think so. But a small step to more interactions. Just now it feels like we are going at the opposit way with protectionism, nationalism and less globalism. I wish my son, from Taiwan, can live in Sweden without racism - but I do not think it will be like that...

That's what I'm afraid of, that we all withdraw into our groups and we can be kept down by fake news oh hate these people or this country, look at these riots instead of looking at why these people are upset, because they are being abused by a government and a horrible money system.

It's why the yellow vests are protesting in France, its why the BLM in america is going, its why the Hong Kong protests started, people are being pushed into desperation.

I agree, you son should be able to go anywhere, do anything without an issue, I don't feel BTC can change it all but a small step in the right direction, to drive peaceful change and community togetherness

Yes and BTC is one more step to peoples-power. I can see it in many different parts. P2P is big in Sweden and Gig-economy. With crypto we get more power.
And as you say - demonstration is all over the world. People do not like the system anymore.
4 days left until vacation!

I like the common ground idea of bitcoin.

Lol if we can't find something to agree on, lets all find something to change and fight for together, if it shows we can get along, then it might just show we're not so different

Yeah ,I think you're right Crypto and blockchain can bring people together. And even in the midst of Racism, it can have a positive effect

Agreed, I think we need to give people a positive outlet for their anger, buying Bitcoin owning your power is an empowering act you can do on your own or as a group and its an important step to take back ownership of your money that you earned.

I think that its a great platform to engage with passionate people too, I mean can you show me a Bitcoiner who is not passionate about it? I don't think so! We crazy nuts about it

This was a really cool piece. I like how you made the focus on oppression in general, and the bit about SA getting an Olympic medal in racism issues was appropriate. I do think this is a game changer, and leveling the playing ground in earning power and networking for a better opportunity is key to ending the issues that come from what we often refer to as racism, but sometimes might simply be generalize oppression that is put upon a particular demographic. Not necessarily the same thing, or for the same reasons.

I think its easy to make it black and white in the west but it's all over. In Asian countries, Latin American, African countries they all have their class structure of oppression. How many Indians or Russians are enjoying ill-gotten gains while the rest fight each other for crumbs

Racism is there I don't doubt it, I just think its a symptom, not the problem itself. You'll be surprised how little racism and sexism reduce when there is more wealth spread and opportunities for mobility are improved.

The reason people point to Scandinavian countries as examples is that their gini coefficient is so low, the gap between people is much smaller so people tend to be more understanding and tolerant

I completely agree. I just recently had this discussion with my sister. I think it has less to do with color and race, and more to do with certain segments of the world population as a WHOLE who have more experiences in being oppressed and disadvantaged. Vulnerable people get taken advantage of. Period. Is there racism, yes. Would a lot of that disappear if we had more homogeneous distribution, sure. Is that possible? Not sure.

Scandanavian countries are almost completely homogeneous and socialist.

Exactly it just so happens they are majority of a certain race, nepotism is real and it’s not going anywhere! We’ve built a society that produces this effect, it’s doing exactly what it’s designed to do!

Never look at what a system is promcied to do look at its output and you’ll see what it’s designed for

I think I’m living proof that growing up africa poor and then getting an education and trying to make a good go of it isn’t easy! I’m by no mean saying I’ve made it but I am a little better off than the majority and I shouldn’t have to be the exception

It’s really heart breaking and I’m so grateful to have found BTC, it’s all I can do to protect what I’ve earned and gently and politely say fuck the system

It is pathetic that you are the exception. I totally agree. And I also agree that if you want to know what a country is built on, look at its output. Who wins? Who loses? Who sits in the middle? Who enjoys the slaughter? It should not be this difficult to "make it" in the world. But it is. For a lot of good people.

Exactly, I always say a good system is one that isn't seen and hardly needs to intervene, where people can live and be happy as a result of their own efforts that should be the be-all and end-all of your happiness and prosperity

How much we DO agree!

I think communication and education can end racism. Being under the umbrella of a common language of values will improve people. A shift in the collective mentality. Money is just a tool in the hands of the mind. We have to change the mind which operates the tool

Indeed there’s an engineering saying that says don’t judge a system by what it’s supposed to do judge it by what it does because it’s clearly the best at that, the system we’ve created is the best at inequality!

Racism is a byproduct, change the money so it gets placed in the hands of more people and you’ll see ideas rise to the top from various sources to make things better

BItcoin our best chance of a bottom up approach to change

I hope to live in such a future soon

As long as I can peacefully complain and educate others you better believe I'll be pushing for it. :)

That's the spirit! 💪💪💪
