in #monthlyreport5 years ago (edited)

Another month has passed, and the first complete month under the new 'rules' of HF21/22, which means it is time for a personalised review of Septembers interactions and finances on Steem.

Let me know in the comments if you would like a report.

Finally, abh12345 upvoted you 14 times in September 2019!

Summary

I've not really been looking forward to this months data as I know I've been posting less and commentating a lot less. The new job has taken around 40 hours Steem time away and when I get home in the evening, having spent 8 hours in front of 3 screens, opening the laptop isn't top of my list of needs or desires.

Seven fewer posts and a shameful 440 fewer comments totaling around 75000 less characters - I suspect this will become the norm for the time being. Using the league data from the other day and totaling the engagement score from my alts, I would have made the top 20 and so I'll take some respite in that - @abh12345.sports was second to my main account.

The beer-swilling comedic Scotsman tops the engagement rankings again this month, he must get around :P

Both author rewards and curation rewards were up last month - a 72% increase in CR seems pretty decent. Author rewards are skewed as I send the liquid rewards of the blocktrades/actifit posts elsewhere to fund steemfest prizes (400 Steem), and another 120 is used as prizes for the engagement league. Still, I can't complain at all.

The summer power-downs are noticeable and so is the introduction of the EIP and 50/50 - author/curator. The last month has been much more volatile than any of the previous and I'm hoping that this is seen as a positive.

In the past the monthly take-home in CR from many accounts would be quite stable, but the changes have meant there is more luck/judgement/random in earning rewards for voting on content.

Let me know in the comments if you would like a report for September 2019 and/or a CR chart for this year. And if you can think of anything else that would be worth adding mention it below and I'll consider it for next month.

Have a good day!

Cheers

Asher

Interesting 🤔

No I don’t have a one day on, one day off approach.. I have no approach 😂 but I guess I get busy at work and so I’m more active some days over others.

Thanks for the chart! Crazy to see how much that curation went up once I hit a certain SP level, as my voting habits haven’t changed.

It's good to see some decent numbers from a manual curator :)

Yes, it still doesn’t compare with auto though.. so if the goal is to form a culture here based on what is incentivized, then that chart would be much higher if I just put an auto on people I know who will be voted. Rather than spend hours curating content and then when I find something amazing, sharing it everywhere and getting it to those who can make it trend. Sure I get great rewards when this happens, as I voted it first.. but I could get what a 150% return if I just autovoted? (Based on the trending post from the newest “curator”)... so why would we spend time doing something for less of a return if we can just make more by automating it? Not complaining, just pointing out something that is still a issue imo.

Yeah, true. Folks should delegate a % to curation initiatives or trail them to ease the guilt, like me :)

pick me please

Always a hassle, never a chore :D

DV city!

That is some improvement last month, I assume you are holding most of your stake back in this account?

yeah except for the stake in the ones i circle jerk with lol,

fk voted for myself once, might go downvote myself :)

:D

Yeah I checked that vote as i thought it could be one of your selfie-DVs - must have been an accident.

Gonna Post before 2020?

lol will see,

Keeping that Meesterboom engagement up! Hurrah!

And that's not the only thing that is up, ooof!

That's a lovely spike!!

I think the biggest spike was when Steem came alive again and everyone was rocking 100% VP, a nice move up though - shame it's all worth bog all at present!

Yeah, it would be nice if it all was worth something. Crypto has totally died for the moment!!

Yeah a lousy couple of weeks on top of a not too impressive 20 months!

For a short while I thought we have came out the other side. I now find it quite ominous that people are talking about a big run in 2020. They said that about this year!

yes, please :0)
My stats are going to suck, but at least I will be able to compare them with the upcoming. I hope to get back on track eventually...

14 self-votes, Asher??? lol

Let's see if the !BEER thing works again ;0)

14 self-votes, Asher??? lol

Notice I failed to mention that in the summary?! 😳

All over the place here!

0 DV's and only 6 votes from me :(

only 6 votes from me

Considering I only published 8 posts, that's not that bad, lol

0 DV's

I know. But i have a good excuse for that. I tried both Brave and Chrome, and Steempeak simply doesn't allow me to downvote (I only get to see the bottom part of the popup window that shows who has downvoted, the top part falls off my screen.) SteemIt refuses to let me in for a couple of weeks now.

Also, I haven't been spedning too much time here. Like i said before: European day time is kinda boring. And since I've started living the sober life, I sleep at night, lol.

Thanks for the report!

Sigh... still no beer. What's a girl gotta do to hand out some sips in this place...???

6/8 isn't bad I guess, and hopefully some of the other accounts voted too.

Your DV excuses seem reasonable, what's up with steemit.com not allowing you in? Have you got Steem Keychain?

I wonder if I can offer you a !BEER ?

This beer thing is getting more weird every hour.... Should check their Discord and ask what's up.

Just tried SteemIt again, and for now, it seems to work. I wonder for how long. I do have keychain... it just kept logging me out every time I had visited a post...

That sounds frustrating, but at least you have a beer to relax with :)

View or trade BEER at steem-engine.

Hey @simplymike, here is a bit BEER for you. Enjoy it!

I am really looking forward to this one ..... i think 🤔 Yes bring it on !! And you self votes ????? Is that a mistake? And you downvoted too, maybe i should start both too.
B

At least one person looks forward to this post :D

No mistakes, I have adopted some oldsteem measures for newsteem 😳 but no vote for this one from self today.

Grinding the posts out and doing pretty well I think :)

Well 67 steem from curation in four weeks I earn like 16 steem in a week From Curation considering I had just 6k plus Steem power really. Not a bad stat by all standard I think I need to curate more. And as for the poem I'm trying to write less poem and go for what my audience will want really. Above all I'm grateful, amazing stuff here, thank you

The poem reference was due to the 3 word comment, but that one beat Joy by 300% so I guess brief comments are the norm today :)

Also read a #sports post from you recently, my voting stats are so skewed in the above, especially if people are authoring for the tribes.

My device was having lol so I had to leave that 3 word comment I guess the comment is getting plentier

Yeah one vote from you lol I expected like 15 from the great @abh12345 hahaha. Yeah I'm a sports analyst too so I'm doing more sports now I guess it can be confusing voting from the tribes really.

Chipping in all over :D

Thanks mate! Yeah, seems like a good month. I stopped self-voting a few weeks back so those 12 selfies should be 0 next time. Reasonable figures. A few more zeros on earned steem would be nice! 😁

Thanks a lot man, much appreciated.

Good stuff. I think we swapped on the self-voting philosophy, perhaps i'll revert to minimal selfies again soon.

Read a couple of decent #sports post from you of late, keep them coming :)

Haha, yeah. When I started with curangel it didn't feel right to self vote I guess. Besides, the pitiful value of my own vote won't ever change my life too much.

I have a funny sports one coming up soon...A lamentable story of me and a styrofoam kick board and a swimming pool from 40 years ago. Good for a laugh at least I hope.

Posted using Partiko Android

You are more than showing your age here :D

I hope there was water in the pool at least!

Umm yeah, I guess I did...Dang it. Yeah, there was water...Which was part of the problem. It was a painful learning experience. You'll see. I'm hoping to write that before I head off to new Zealand this weekend for a few weeks.

Sure thing, let it roll please :)
I think my CR is going to have a spike.

Correct!

The delegation return combined with #newsteem has set a rocket under the CR :)

I understand being busy brother... between Moderating at the #steemterminal, writing for the SBI Group, and trying to help people... well thats enough ;)

Question about Tribes.

What are some good methods for automating voting for my various tribe tokens?

I have beem using steampeak, and I think my voting mana is always sitting at 100% for the various tribe accounts, even though I am curating regularly with steampeak.

I want my staked tokens to boost manual curation efforts as much as possible with the least amount of additional hassle (checking constantly on each tribe).

Any helpful articles or tips? Please send them to me.

Apologies for the somewhat unrelated question. I am on my mobile, and remembered @abh12345 tends to attract many interactive commenters, and would like a few different opinions. I appreciate this community a lot!

Are you holding the tokens on this account?

If so, then this is the link to help.

https://economicstudio.github.io/vp/?a=creativetruth&t=PAL#

PAL is the example but this can be changed to any tribe token that can be staked.

You'll need to change the vote multiplier for each tribe token to one that suits the content you vote on.

It will involve some testing but if you can keep the tribe token and your main VP in the 80's or up, this will mean things are going well:

My PAL is in an alt that trials my main account and so the 65% here isn't a concern.

I am always voting 100% from my main steem account. In this way I monitor my timing to trigger the next 100% when I have recharged my power.

I will check out the link. Not sure it will help me out if I am only curating around ten posts a day, or so already at max voting power. Maybe I need to follow a trail for each token I am holding, to increase the frequency they are triggered. Never done this before.

Thanks for the tip

You should take the advice of increasing your vote multiplier for tribes you don't vote too often. You'll see by using the link @abh12345 quoted that you can have low STEEM vote mana but are most likely sitting with 100% idle vote mana for many of the tribes. Increasing the vote multiplier by 5 or more in some cases for certain tribes, can greatly improve the token rewards you receive and ensure that you are using up that idle tribe VP.

I increased my multiplier by x3 for my common tribes, such as PAL and NEOXIAN, and by 5 or 8 for tribes I don't see often like CCC or MARLIANS.. I even have a x10 multiplier for SPT (Splintertalk) as I don't curate Splinterlands posts as much anymore - even with that my SPT VP sits at 100% often.

My PAL and NEOXIAN VP now stays around or even less than par to my STEEM VP, and I rarely see a common tribe tag sitting at 100% VP anymore. I have also given as much potential as possible to earn better curation rewards from the tribes :)

If you do go the trailing route, use SteemRewarding.com as it gives you the best options and flexibility for setting up vote rule parameters that I couldn't find at SteemAuto and others... If you need help (the UI is not that intuitive) give me a shout I'd be happy to help you figure it out :)

Thanks for the response.

Maybe I do not understand how the multiplier works, or maybe I do. Obviously, I can multiply a 10% vote up to 10x using this system. I am always casting full 100% votes daily to reduce the amount of manual curation I need to perform. Will the multiplier increase my tribe votes beyond 100%? I assumed it does not, so it might not help me in the manner I seek.

I am familiar with steemrewarding and use it often to queue up my overnight curation votes.

Again, thanks.

I do think that the curation rewards bonus thing are pretty random, don't think it makes too much difference as to when you vote as long as you do it before a big one comes in. Anyway, great idea on the stats.

I'd like to see how mine has changed, is it possible to get a retrospective look at the last 3 months from july-september?

I'm not sure if this takes into account when I set @likwid as beneficiary, so SP and STEEM rewards are prob projecting lower than they really are. Do you use some of this data in Engagement League?

hmmm. Interesting point. The Leagues have been around much longer than likwid and so I hadn't really taken that into account. It shouldn't matter for Curation rewards, but yes, I think it will skew the numbers of this report.
