Let Go Of What You Cannot Control

in #motivation6 hours ago

One of the things that easily lead one to stress in life is trying to manage what they know is beyond their reach. Oftentimes, people worry about people's actions, situations, timing of events, the effects of their actions, etc. What they fail to understand is that they can only control their own actions, but not the result of their actions. This is why I always tell people to learn to let go of what they know they cannot control, and focus more on what they can. When you do your best, then you should leave the rest, so that it will not break you. Remember that you are not supposed to do everything, so know what to do, what not to attempt, and the difference between both.

When you channel your energy to what you can control, it will make you more focused, it will also control your attitude, your efforts, your decisions, and your choices. More so, it will make you to stop wasting your time on the fear of the unknown or the fear of the consequences of your actions, and start focusing on doing the right thing and putting in your best. Doing your best, does not show flawlessness, rather it means showing up consistently, with diligence and commitment, then giving your heart towards the task that you are doing no matter the size of the task. However, after you have done all these, then you have to learn the art of letting go. Free your mind from the burdens of the thoughts of the effects and consequences of the actions. Let go.

It is worthy to note that letting go of what you cannot control does not mean giving up on your hustles or putting an end to your actions. It is understanding the fact that time can unfold a lot of things. It is also knowing that you are not omnipotent and that you cannot do everything. More so, a lot of things follow a certain timeline which you cannot change nor alter. When you understand this, you will not be pressured over the things that do not matter. There are sometimes that success will come immediately. But there are still sometimes that it may take a while. This does not mean that your actions are not productive, but it means that you have to wait for the timeline. For example, you may plant corn today and harvest it in the coming 3 or 4 months. But there is no way you can plant palm or cocoa today and harvest in 4 months, you must wait for the maturity time, which can be years, and there is nothing you can do about it.

When you shift your focus from what you cannot control, it will be easier to give your best in what you have control of. This also helps you to approach each day with the mindset of excellence, not perfection. The difference between both of them is that excellence means that you are giving your best within your current ability, while perfection requires everything to be without flaw. When you have made of choice of excellence over perfection, you will remove unnecessary pressure from your life and give yourself room to grow. By that, you will become more focused, more disciplined, and more committed towards achieving your goals.

Learning to let go of what you do not have control of is where true freedom begins. When you have done your part and you know that you have put in your best, then you have to remove the need to influence or control the outcome. Sometimes, as humans, we would want guarantees, assurance, or immediate results, but you have to understand that life does not follow your guidelines. Letting go of what you cannot control brings peace of mind, and it makes you to get to a point that you will just allow life to unfold on its own.

One of the things that you should know is that you are responsible for the actions that you take, and for your efforts, not for perfection. You may take actions, which are within your choices and control, but you cannot determine the effects. After you have done what you know is within the best of your abilities, then you need to allow nature to take its course.
