Make Greatness Out Of Limited Resources

in #motivation8 days ago

Sometimes in life, what you call "small" can be used as a primer to achieve greatness. A seed in your hands may look small, but right inside them are the potentials to become a thick forest. What you have at hand is more than enough to start something with. A lot of people that have achieved greatness in various fields of human endeavour did not start great. Some of them started small, but through consistency, determination, discipline, and hard work, they were able to achieve success. As long as you have conceived your dream, you do not have to wait for a perfect time or perfect support, just start with what you have.

I once read a biography about Jeff Bezos and how he started his company, Amazon. Adorably, it was started right in his garage in his rented house. The website was actually designed by him with the help of a few friends. When it started, they began with selling only books. The first packaging and delivery was done from his garage as well. They had very limited resources, but they used them to achieve greatness. As time went by, they grow beyond just books and incorporated other items. At this time, Amazon has become one of the largest E-commerce sites in the world. Amazon itself now has some other subsidiaries including AWS (computing), logistics, streaming, etc. This proves to you that you can start small, but do not remain small.

Starting with what you have, no matter how small or limited it may look, is a powerful reminder that achievements and success depend more on courage and creativity, not necessarily on ideal condition. That means that what you achieve is not a function of what you have but what you do, and how you utilise with what you have. A lot of the great inventions, innovations, achievements even in history, began with something small. It can be a small idea, limited resources, simple tool, a sketchy plan, or a challenge that prompted you to start. When you take the first step with what you have, you will achieve the momentum to sustain you along the way. Most times, the first step is usually the toughest, but when you get started, everything unfolds along the course of action.

Even if you have all the whole support and lack the courage, determination, zeal, and the willingness to make something out of it, it will still be futile. But if you are determined to make it, you will discover that what you have at hand is actually more than enough. As a matter of fact, some of the people who are making waves in the world did not start with as much as what you have at hand. What you have at hand is like some grains of corn, you are the one that will determine if they are fruits or seeds. If you see them as fruits, you will simply consume them and they will be gone. But if you see them as seeds, you will invest them by planting them, and they will yield multiple returns.

When you start with what you have, you will learn to maximise what you have instead of just waiting in futility for an external help. More so, you should not be bothered much about where the next support will come from, you just need to start. If you want to become an author for example, you do not have to worry yourself about how the book will get published, just start first. At least you have a pen, a paper, and the willingness to start. Use them and get started first, then when you get to the bridge, you will figure out how to cross it. Always remember that growth comes by doing and taking actions, not by waiting.

There are things you may never learn until you have taken a step. When you start, even if it looks little, you will gain more experience, gain more knowledge, and learn lessons to become better. Even if you make mistakes at the starting phase of your journey, it will become lessons that will be useful in the course of your journey.
