Beware Of Friendly Enemies

in #motivational3 years ago (edited)

Most times, the people that fight you are not people from outside nor some two-headed monsters but the people you call your friends. They will come before you to appear as an angel but behind you, they will become evil. Sometimes, you may be comfortable to tell some people your secrets and you will think they are in the same page with you, but at your back, they will use it against you. This is one of the reasons you should be cautious of what and how you relate with people.

Sometimes, it is not the enemy outside that fights you but the enemy within - the people you regard as friends. If you are familiar with the cocoa tree, you will know what is called "cocoa rot". When this kind of disease attacks cocoa, it eats it from within and it will be hardly noticed until the damage is done. Which means that what destroys the cocoa tree is not from outside (like pest or animal) but it is what resides inside it. Similarly, many people's problems are from the people that they have trusted with their secrets.

Most times, people do not really care about your secrets, they only appear to care so that you can let out your secrets and they can satisfy their curiosity. Have you ever noticed that some people you call your friends will not get excited when good things happen to you? They will tend to commonize it, but will be excited when it happens to them, and even come to share it with you. Does it mean that good things are exclusively preserved for them?

In other scenarios, some people you call your friends may even want you to make progress but not as much as they do. They will want you to succeed, but anytime you succeed more than them or start to make it more than them, they will become jealous or start having reservations. Anyone that does not want your success is not your friend. And anyone that will want you to be perpetually under them is not supposed to be counted as your friend, because they have the propensity to hinder your progress when you begin to make it more than them.

It is surprising how a friend will be quick to come to you to sympathise if bad things befall you but when good things happen to you, they will be unwilling to come to congratulate you. This is a clear indication that they prefer bad things to happen to you instead of good things, and as such, they should not be among your friends. A friend should be the person that will assist you to grow and not to ride on you to grow.

The truth is, it is better to be left alone than being with wolves that pretend to be friends. Some of them will only come to get your secrets and afterwards, they will use it to attack you at a later time. You have to know who you relate with, because most of the things that happen to people are directly related to who they relate with. If you keep the wrong people around you, then do not expect the right things to happen to you.

If you understand that one of the greatest enemies that face people has its origin from the people within their very own circle, you will know how to go about life. Forming allies with the wrong people is one of the greatest ills that can befall anyone. You should always have in mind that the heart of everyone cannot be fair towards you, so you must not bring everyone close to you. You have to apply discretion when bringing people close to yourself.
