It is no doubt that all of us desire a good future. One thing to note, however, is that what you do today is what will chart the course for what your future will look like. Having a good tomorrow is not a gift that falls on people, it is a result of conscious efforts to sow good actions today. In order to build a good future, you should focus your efforts and channel your energy towards building your today first. Remember, no one starts to build a house from the ceiling but from the basement.
A lot of people focus their attention towards what they want their future to be like without realizing that they need to start today to build it. It is weird how people major on chasing after what they want while leaving their needs to be unmet. To a considerably fair extent, the future of your tomorrow lies largely in your hands and this is at the mercies of your actions (and inactions) of today.
You will agree with me that the results you are seeing today is almost always a direct function of what was done in the past. Similarly, what you do today will be what your future self will see as results. No doubt, you may not be able to effectively alter the actions that were performed by you in the past. However, the rays of hope is that the future is entirely within your powers to alter by what you do today.
As you take actions in the now, ask yourself this: "if you had taken the action in the past, will be be happy with the result in the present?" If the answer to this self-question is unforthcoming, then you should rethink the action. Always have this in mind: you do not have to predict the future - well, you may not be able even if you want to. However, you can work yourself through to the kind of future you want to have.
There is no contradiction to the fact that the past is already out of your reach to either make changes or undo what you have done. However, there is something you can do for the sake of your future and that is to start building your tomorrow from the present moment. Even though history cannot be altered, it is possible that the future can, so it is your absolute prerogative to chart the course for the future you want.
As a farmer, for instance, the kind of fruit you want to harvest will determine the type of seed that you will have to plant in your farm. If you want to harvest only cassava, then you have no business with planting any other thing apart from cassava. Even when you plant the cassava, it has to be a very viable species so that you will have a bountiful harvest. In the same way, the quality of your actions today is what you see as results tomorrow.
There are things that will answer to more of work than of luck and the case of building a good tomorrow has more of work to do than depending on luck. Well, this is not to overrule the place of luck but just to let you know that luck works better when it is complemented with quality work. Conclusively, your tomorrow is heavily dependent on the choices, actions, works, inactions, and activities of today.
