Barbie Smashed the Patriarchy Leaving Women Unhappy

The new Barbie movie opens with a scene based on 2001: A Space Odyssey. Young girls playing with their baby dolls see a tall blonde Barbie appear in a sexy swimsuit like the black monolith. The girls proceed to smash their baby dolls and replace them with adult Barbies by Mattel. This is presented as an act of freedom, in which they smash the patriarchy that restricted them to the role of mother. Now they can be anything: a Barbie doctor, Barbie lawyer, Barbie pilot, Barbie president, etc. We are currently living in that dream world of female “liberation,” yet women are more unhappy than ever. What gives? They still blame “the patriarchy” for this, but the patriarchy has been smashed. What women fail to understand is that it is the fall of the patriarchy that has left them so unhappy.

By smashing the patriarchy, women today have the “freedom” to work jobs they hate while being depressed that they can’t find a husband or have children. The patriarchy did not oppress women; it provided for them. When females joined the workforce, the supply of workers doubled, so salaries were cut in half. Before that, a man could provide for his family on a single income, so women didn’t need to work a job. But they had a much more important—and fulfilling job: that of raising their children.

There are rare women, like Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, who have been gifted with the talent to pursue careers among men (like writing, directing, acting, medicine, law, business, etc.). Some can do this while also having a family, but others may prefer to pursue a career instead of a family. But they are rare exceptions. Most women would be much happier not working a job at all and simply staying at home to care for their children, while also having the free time to pursue hobbies like art and fitness.

The psyop that has been inflicted on women through the feminist movement has convinced them that they need to work jobs to fulfill their lives—that “freedom” lies in working for a corporation. Feminism convinced women to want to have a successful career like men, as if men “want” to work jobs too. The only reason men work is to provide for women and children. It is also rare for men to have a truly fulfilling career. So many women today wish they could quit their jobs, focus on their hobbies like yoga or gardening, and have children. This was the default life under the patriarchy that supposedly “oppressed” them.

There was a small minority (like 1%) of female intellectuals who were truly oppressed and prevented from achieving success in their careers under the patriarchy. They used their intellectual expertise to convince the other 99% of women who were perfectly happy under the patriarchy that they would be happier working jobs just like men. So the patriarchy was smashed, and now the majority of women are unhappy, unlikely to ever get married or have kids.

It doesn’t have to be this way. We can go back. Smash your capitalist Barbies, girls, and pick up your baby dolls again. Women wanted to prove they could do anything men could do, but they forgot about the one thing only women could do: be a mother.
