Amidst all of the beauty of autumn there is the fruiting of mycelium in this season. Lots of different fungal bodies pop out their fruit in the form of mushrooms. Lots of different kinds out there too.
One of the choice edibles is the puffball. But you have to make sure it’s the right shroom. And you also have to catch it at the right time.
A little too late and it’s a goopy mess. Even later and it’s a dried out mass of spores.
We found a pile of puffs on our journey today. They were a little over done for eating though. But not old enough to be a puffy bliss.
