“Yulunga” by Dead Can Dance … (Art Rock / World / Neoclassical Dark Wave – Music to Your Ears–64)

Some of the most glorious and unique soundscapes ever created.

Dead Can Dance – “Yulunga”

“Yulunga” (2005 / 1993)

This is a live version, from 2005, of a tune that first appeared on Dead Can Dance’s 1993 album “Into The Labyrinth.”  It’s a grand celebration of nature, the cosmos, and the divine beings (or maybe, divine wanna-beings) that inhabit this distant corner of the cosmos.

Earthy and Ethereal

As with much of the band’s music, it’s earthy and elemental, but also ethereal and transcendent. By drawing from a broad range of musical traditions and styles, they’ve created some of the most glorious and unique soundscapes ever heard.    (Image source)

Dead Can Dance

Dead Can Dance is an Australian-UK musical project. It was founded in 1981 in Melbourne, and relocated to London the following year.

Grand, Grander, Grandeur

While the band’s early work was sometimes described as “goth,”  the band members rejected that label.

A more accurate description came from the writer Ian McFarlane, who praised its grand music as “soundscapes of mesmerising grandeur and solemn beauty.”  (Image source)

Dead Go On Living

Dead Can Dance disbanded in 1998. Nevertheless, the band has released further recordings, and occasionally plays live and even goes on tours.

In fact, the band released a new album in 2018, and was on tour in 2019.

I first heard about this group. But, the music is amazing. It feels like this song is the embodiment of pure energy.

Right. This group is not the most popular group, but they sure can sing!!!

Even the name itself dead can dance is worth capturing people attention.

Why do they disbanded?

Not sure why they disbanded. Maybe creative differences.
