Papaver Orientale

Huge, ruffled, high-impact blooms. Fringed and fiery red petals that surround deep purple centrifuge. Require full sun. Deer resistant. Active late spring to midsummer. A standout in bouquets.

My mom has been slowly covering her gardens with various types of Poppies. She recently informed me that those are her favorite flower. I always thought it was the Hyacinth. Starting to wonder what she's up to...

Anyway, these were planted in her garden a few years ago. They are quite the self-propagators, and have begun to pop up all over the property. She recently complimented the large red Turkenlouis with some subtle orange bloomed known appropriately monikered as Long Heads.

Papaver Dubium

This is a variable annual species of poppy, it prefers sandy soil without lime. Widespread throughout its native Europe, it has been introduced in the United States, and can be found elsewhere where the weather and soil conditions are favorable.
