This lighthouse is in the coastal town of Port Shepstone about 40km from where we stay. This lighthouse was iron casted in Britain and shipped to South Africa in the 1890's. At the time Port Shepstone was an operational Harbour. It became non-operational in the early 1900's.

We have to go to Port Shepstone frequently as this is the biggest town near us where the hospitals and more businesses are located.

The light tower is a very well known beacon of the town. You can almost see it from every where when driving around town. On this particular day we decided to go see it from nearer.

It was a beautiful day. A perfect blue sky, wind still South African day. My kind of day. The sun was exceptionally bright on the water almost blinding.

That is the bridge that's crossing over the biggest river, the Umzimkulu, in the Kwa-Zulu Natal Province. Because of this big river mouth that flows into the Indian Ocean here, the ocean is not its usual blue colour but brownish. Even more so on this day as there were heavy rains inland.

I found these trees growing so near to the ocean very interesting. They are standing tall as if keeping watch. People love to park there in their shade watching the ocean.

From there you have Marine Drive following the coastline for a pleasant and relaxed cruise along the ocean. In all the little coastal towns the roads next to the ocean is called Marine drive.

Thank you for looking and reading.
