Today I wanted to talk briefly about the drugs being tested around the world for COVID19 (Coronavirus).

Drugs being tested for COVID19 can broadly be divided into 3 Groups:
Group ONE: Prophylaxis trials – to prevent COVID19
Group TWO: COVID19 Treatment Trials – to treat COVID19
Group THREE: COVID19 Complication Treatment Trials - to treat complications due to COVID19
These drugs fall into Group ONE, TWO or THREE. Some Drugs fall into more than one group depending upon the investigation objectives.
So, generally and broadly speaking, drugs being tested for COVID19 are either:
- Antiviral or
- Drugs used in arthritis or
- Antibiotics, antifungal, steroids or
- Drugs used in various other conditions or
- New drugs
