Our second night at the hostel Yangshuo Mountain Retreat. Today, we plan to take a stroll on West Street and want to hike to spectacular Moon Hill.
Moon Hill
In the morning, we start the day with a breakfast on the balcony of our small room.

Then, we start our bike ride to West Street. West Street is a very touristy area in Yangshuo, with countless bars, restaurants and souvenir shops.
We reach the district in about 30 minutes by bike.

At first glance, West Street seems nothing special: There is a lot going on and sellers loudly praise their products.
However, when we pass this restaurant, we cannot resist laughing:
German Beer in China!
A German beer garden in China - WTF? Thousands of kilometres away from Germany, and yet we encounter dirndls and leather pants - we really would not have thought that! ;-)
Well, a bit disturbed, we continue to walk along the streets and then sit down in a café: The Lotus Restaurant, which was recommended to us. We drink coffee and eat a cheesecake (yes, that's very western, but we really wanted to eat a cake!)
Strengthened, we walk to the riverbank and enjoy the beautiful view of the Karst Mountains.
Later we cycle back to the hotel.

In the afternoon we set off again by bike to Moon Hill, a spectacular rock formation.
From the starting point of the hike, it is about 30 minutes to the summit. The path leads through a small forest, but we can enjoy the view from time to time through the trees.
Once at the top, we pass the awe-inspiring stone gate and have a wonderful view of the surrounding cities and the Karst Mountains.

From here, however, it goes even further, to the summit of the Moon Hill!
The way there is steep and slippery and should only be walked by experienced hikers. After about 20 minutes, you reach the highest point of the Moon Hill and can enjoy a spectacular view in peace.
Satisfied and hungry (it's getting late) we start our way back. Today, we have decided on a very exotic dinner in China:
Pizza!
Our hotel recommended the Luna Rooftop Restaurant - a pizzeria that bakes with real yeast dough and cheese and offers a wonderful view to Moon Hill.
In fact, we are not disappointed:
When we arrive, we get an iced towel - that sounds weird? That's the best thing you can imagine after a day of cycling and hiking at 35 degrees and extreme humidity!

Unsere zweite Nacht im Ruheressort Yangshuo Mountain Retreat. Heute steht Bummeln in der West Street und eine Wanderung auf den Moon Hill an.
Der Moon Hill
Morgens starten wir den Tag mit einem Frühstück auf dem Balkon unseres kleinen Zimmers.

Danach brechen wir mit den Fahrrädern auf zur West Street. Die West Street ist ein sehr touristisches Stadtviertel in Yangshuo und bietet unzählige Bars, Restaurants und Souvenirläden.
Mit dem Fahrrad erreichen wir das Viertel in ca. 30 Minuten von unserem Hotel aus.

Auf den ersten Blick scheint die West Street nichts Besonderes zu sein: Es ist viel los und die Verkäufer preisen lauthals ihre Produkte an.
Als wir allerdings dieses Restaurant passieren, können wir uns ein Lachen nicht verkneifen:

Ein deutscher Biergarten in China - WTF? Tausende von Kilometern entfernt von Deutschland, und trotzdem begegnen wir Dirndl und Lederhosen – Das hätten wir nun wirklich nicht gedacht! Kurios, kurios! ;-)
Nun, etwas verstört laufen wir weiter und lassen uns dann in einem Café nieder. Dem Lotus Restaurant, das uns empfohlen wurde. Wir trinken dort allerdings nur Kaffee und essen einen Cheesecake (Ja, schon klar, das ist sehr westlich. Aber wir hatten eben mal Lust auf Kuchen!)
Gestärkt laufen wir an das Flussufer und genießen die schöne Aussicht auf das Karstgebirge.
Später radeln wir zurück zum Hotel.
Auf dem Rückweg fahren wir zu Beginn auf der stark frequentierten Straße bei der West Street
Nachmittags brechen wir wieder mit dem Fahrrädern auf zum Moon Hill, einer spektakulären Felsformation.
Vom Startpunkt der Wanderung sind es ca. 30 Minuten bis zum Gipfel. Der Weg führt durch ein kleines Wäldchen, wir können zwischen durch aber immer wieder durch die Bäume hindurch die Aussicht genießen.
Oben angekommen passieren wir das ehrfurchterweckende Steintor und haben eine wundervolle Aussicht auf die umliegenden Städte und das Karstgebirge.

Von hier aus geht es allerdings noch weiter, und zwar auf den Gipfel des Moon Hills!
Der Weg dorthin ist steil und rutschig und sollte nur von geübten Wanderern beschritten werden. Nach ca. 20 Minuten kommt man so auf den höchsten Punkt des Moon Hills und kann, ganz in Ruhe, eine spektakuläre Aussicht genießen.
Zufrieden und hungrig (es ist langsam schon spät) machen wir uns auf den Rückweg. Heute haben wir uns für ein in China sehr exotisches Abendessen entschieden:

Unser Hotel empfahl uns hierfür das Luna Rooftop Restaurant - eine Pizzeria, die mit echtem Hefeteig und Käse backt und einen wundervollen Ausblick auf den Moon Hill gewährt.
Tatsächlich werden wir nicht enttäuscht:
Bei unserer Ankunft erhalten wir erst einmal eisgekühlte Handtücher – das klingt komisch? Das ist das Beste, was man sich nach einem Tag Radfahren und Wandern bei 35 Grad und extremer Luftfeuchtigkeit vorstellen kann!

Die Pizza, die wir tatsächlich mit spektakulärer Aussicht genießen, ist super lecker!
