$2100 Clown Fish?

Well, not really.. I took this pic at the dental surgeon's office after my consultation with them yesterday.

A while ago I posted a pic of my (broken) smile.. my front teeth which were really just veneers had broken and wiggled off. I thought it was just a simple thing, like the adhesive wore out and I just needed to re-stick em into place.

Turns out my actual tooth that was the main anchor for the veneer (really just a big cap that went all around the shaven down tooth) did break, so the whole piece (3 teeth in all) could no longer be used. :(

The quickest, most inexpensive way to 'fix' the situation is to PULL about 7 teeth to make way for a 'flipper'. (think partial dentures)

So I just went to the original dentist to make molds of my teeth as they are now. (it feels like choking on that goop that they fill your mouth with. thankfully, it is one hemisphere of the mouth at a time.) just breath through your nose the nice lady assisting said.. :P

I am not exactly sure how many more visits it will take me, nor exactly how much it will cost me. I am rather unhappy with their lack of explanation of the process and only know the cost per tooth for the extraction.. up to $300 per tooth depending on how easily each one comes out. The receptionist just casually says how much each visit will cost AFTER the dentist does whatever.

I understand that there's a cost for anything they do, but why do they just seem to not care about how much the expense will be to a customer.. as in, they think everyone just has a few thousand in their wallet as they visit! I also thought my insurance would cover most of the cost, but it turns out there is a big co-pay, so that $2100 is just my portion, they do cover about 60% of it. Do they even know how much HIVE I could get for what I am paying?!

ps. I actually really do think the clown fish is so cool and so am telling myself I am paying for Nemo.. like for his/her food and tank, etc.

:P

I think dentists are out of their minds, doctors, too.
I know 'that is just the business', but I prefer a doctor not so money grubbing.

I hate the dentist, everything is always so expensive. I'd also be afraid of venturing into a treatment without knowing if I'll be able to afford it, that's really crazy... I'm sorry about your teeth, but I hope they can fix it and smile again after the bad drink :p The fish looks good .

On the other hand, I invite you to publish in the small community that I create and manage, it is called Daily Blog (https://peakd.com/c/hive-178265/created). It is precisely to publish daily anecdotes like these, you may be interested. It would be nice to read you there.

Greetings, have a nice day and I wish you luck with the treatment ❤️

😁😉🤙 yea.. NOT my favorite thing.. the dentist. :( but I guess I'll just bite the bullet now before I lose ALL my teeth or it will cost 3 times MORE to fix em..

thanks for showing me that daily blog. I will check it out.. :)
