3 arrested for cheating in the name of medical admission

Police in Kolkata's Lalbazar have arrested three people on charges of taking around Rs 60 lakh from students in the name of getting them admitted to MBBS. Police from Lalbazar said a man had lodged a complaint with the Baubazar police station in Kolkata this week.
According to police sources, the man came to the police station and said that the accused had taken Rs 60 lakh from them in several stages in the name of getting his son admitted to MBBS in 2018.
Not only that, after interrogating the accused, they said that they have contacts with the top echelons of the government, so they will not have any difficulty in getting admitted. Police then said that the accused also mentioned the name of a professor of Calcutta University to make their words credible.
They said the young man would be admitted to the minority quota. Investigators claim that the detainees gave the complainant some documents from the State Health University. But the detainees informed them a day before the start of the class that some problems have been created so they can't go to class for a while now.
After investigation, the police found out that the detainees later agreed to return the money they had taken in the name of admission. The suspects handed over several post dated checks to the complainant.
But after depositing that check in the bank, the complainant may know that they have cheated because the bank says that there is not enough money in the account of the accused.
One of the investigators informed the police that even after doing so for the first time, the detainees promised to return the money to the complainant, but did not get the money back. After investigating, the police may know more about these accused that these three accused have gone to jail a few days ago in another fraud case.
