RE: Crypto Tips: Knowledge is Power- Get Your Own

in #news9 years ago

Wow, nice to meet you Heidy Travels! :) .. First off, sorry my comment is longer than your blog. That is just how it worked out..

Now I wish I had talked to you more on the crowded bus after Steemfest. You just never know how awake and interesting or asleep and fragile someone might be.. Guess it is better to chat and find out. Sounds like you know about bit about being an activist so your making me think here!

I recently thought of this: It is kind of like waking up from a nice peaceful sleep and finding oneself in the middle a war zone. Then you start to wish for that nice sleep again but you realize you were always at risk even when sleeping. And by going back to sleep you'll still be at risk. So of course you stay awake.

So, yea I think you're right. It is hard to shut your eyes on the truth. One of the best things we can do now it to plant those seeds of influence in everyone else and be careful to protect our environment, our minds, and our compassion.

My family is cable free too. I don't recall ever being into the Real Fake news and I certainly didn't like the school taught history. They had to put me in a vocational school I would act out so much. Lol. Now, I have a friend teaching high school history so I love to get his opinion (aka: violent back-lash reaction) on some of the things I find. I guess he is still a friend, I got to see him the christmas .. He did not bring that up though.

Now that everything is in question or an investigation, I'm the opposite: I study the alt news bascially every chance I get and study documentaries that bring anything official into question (history I can tolerate!).

Lots of fun. Turns out it is rather easy to hear something that may or may not be true and process it later. I can hear really bad news too and mostly not lose sleep over it (anymore).

Even though the news I know in my mind can be sickening or unthinkable to most people, I'm less fearful than I have ever been. I know a monkey has been lifted off my back. The best part is I'm not wondering so much anymore, I either have an idea of what is going on or I'm in a position to hear what is really going on. I have practiced and can be rational even under hard fired up topics.

Nice to meet you as well @jamesc :) I would've loved to get into a convo about this with you on that bus! It's kinda funny if you're trying to figure out someone's stance on all of this, first you ask a few questions and see how deep they'll go with their answers. I love it when someone I've never met does this with me since I already know where he's going with it, and when they realize I'm not a zombie the convos usually go pretty well haha

You bring up a good point about being able to handle really disturbing information now after being kind of desensitized to it. I know my own experience with these realizations has led me to be pretty pessimistic about the future, but then I found this entire underworld of individuals who see things the way that I do and there's lots of people out there- especially in the crypto field- that are working everyday to bring freedom back to currency (and more of course). It's a breath of fresh air!

I stopped watching mainstream news a while ago! Sometimes, It's easier to make informed decisions by doing one's own research than follow the usual BS propaganda on television! Ofcourse mainstream media cannot be ruled out entirely but the times we live in, it's kinda hard to say if they have the interests of the citizens first over everything else. Also, being calm under any situation is the best we can do really..
