"The Guaire River is a short river in Venezuela, one of the slopes of the Tuy River and the main waterway of the Caracas valley. Its length is 72 km. It originates at the confluence of the San Pedro and Macarao rivers, in one place which is called Las Adjuntas, and crosses the city of Caracas in a southeasterly direction.

Before the 20th century, the river was not polluted, it was also the source of water for all the inhabitants. At the end of the 19th century, during the government of President Antonio Guzmán Blanco, this endowed Caracas with sewers and sewers, but ordered that the Guaire River be used as the main route of drainage of the city's wastewater.
