hi zpzn, it is normal for shoujo characters to have this kind of expression ^^.

I love the colors and really like the chrysanthemums around her. You are really good with shading and creating shadows to add dimensions to your art.

You are so nice with your comment, Melinda! Maybe too nice, but I like sweet anyway hehehe.

I am grateful to read your lovely assessment, thank you very much :).

Too nice? No, well deserved

The repetition of chrysanthemums gives a patterning = flatness ~ In contrast to the suggestion of form in her delightfully wistful face. I can see you have a grasp of using water with your watercolours now Scrawly. Lovely painting. ♥︎♥︎⚖️♥︎♥︎

Ahh yeah, wistful is a word that I've often forgotten, but I shouldn't because it's so lovely.

Thank you Ally for your observation about my art, I appreciate it a lot. And yes, getting to understand the water element more in water colour, I guess I used to treat the colours as if they're oil ^^;.

Even the sound of wistful is so alluring ~ I really love it as a word ~ And so I REALLY love to see a wistful expression so I can comment on it.

Watercolour is by far the more 'wistful' of the two mediums. I think 😇 with my still non-thinking mind. 😇

She looks so sad......But the watercolor did turn out nicely :)

I still make a lot of mistakes, but I feel that I'm getting better.

Thank you :D.

Agree :)

This is absolutely lovely! I love the color scheme, I'm a sucker for warm tones. Her eyes are super cute too! This gives me a feeling of nostalgia.

Aww I'm glad to read your comment. And I wonder if this picture gives a feeling of nostalgia, then which mangas are you thinking about? :D

Thank you ^_^.

Nice lines, lovely work!

Thank you, Paula :).

she seems to be sad.. Is she like the flower she's got the name ? in France the chrysanthems are the traditionnal flowers used in the cemeteries to flourish the graves 😉 I wonder if it is the case elsewhere... 😜

I was wondering the same. Why is she so looking so sad!?

Some people's serious expression makes them look sad, she's one of these people.

Yes, I heard this flower can represent death in some cultures, but in Australia we actually use it at Mother's Day.

She is not sad, she has a wandering mind in this picture, thinking about life and all that.

Thank you Barbara :).

This is probably because of the name of the flower that I saw sadness...chrysanthemums by us are the symbol of the persons we will not see anymore in this life.. ;-)

she looks so lovely ^^

btw, i was also curious why background flowers are normal on old shoujo mangas xdd

I see that you are one of the curious and observant ones, while I'm part of the ignorant bunch hahaha.

Thanks kothy ^_^.

You're getting so much better at watercolouring, it is a bit scary how fast you are getting so much better at it !!! I love this piccar and it is a bit sad that you couldn't get it in my contest in time ; __ ;

But, it's a winner in my heart~ (my black, spidery heart of doom~)

I love the colours, the reds and browns give a harmonious feel, there are pictures that works well with high contrast, and then there are pictures that bring ease to the eyes with a more subtle balance and this one makes me feel happy and airy when I see it :)

Shoujo does uses a lot of floating flowers XD I think floral motif is seen easily as prettyful and feminine so they use it a lot !

Wonderful piccar, scrawls !

(I should get back to watercolouring soon or else I'll fall behind for sure! You're really doing impressively with your improvements !!!!)

(keep going! \o/)

I'm a bit scary? For a spider? Zomg! XD XD XD

Awuuu what a very kind comment you gave me :D. I have always been fond of watercolour and even in digital media I have tried it many times, maybe those practices actually count for something and part of the skills transferred through. I am glad that some people mention that I have improved, because it was quite embarrassing showing my first few attempts at it hahaha. But I'm glad I did it because why not, we are not born perfect and we can grow to be better. It's ok, isn't it.

And please get back to water colours! You and shibasaki-san are my great inspirations :).

This one look at you like super straight in the eye! I feel like suddenly the viewer turn their head at random and saw her, and she is obviously cute and look back at viewer... the chrys start to pop up (4 the viewer). But in reality she's thinking something like... "take those filthy eyes off me... you badly drawn boy..." Awesome watercoloring (シ_ _)シ

XD XD

Oh gosh, I'm trying to not to laugh out loud here, you evil rainbow ball or people are going to be staring funny at me. Amazing comment, would read again. A++
