PNUT is a TRC20 token with unlimited total supply. The minting of PNUT adopts the Bitcoin halving mechanism —— PNUT minting will halve at regular intervals to increase the scarcity of PNUT.

The following is the PNUT halving mechanism, rules and halving time

0th - 100000th blocks, 20 PNUT/block
PNUT initial blocks, the block halving had not yet been officially initiated
1000001st - 1000000th blocks, 10 PNUT/block
In October 2020, PNUT entered its first round of halving, from 20 PNUT/block to 10 PNUT/block. (already took place)

On October 5, 2021, PNUT entered its second round of halving, from 10 PNUT/block to 5 PNUT/block. (already took place)

The second round of PNUT halving started on October 5, 2021. This halving reduce production rate from 10 PNUT/block to 5 PNUT/block. As a result, the output of PNUT is reduced and its scarcity increased.

The impact of the PNUT halving on Peanut's various staking projects is the reduction of APY, which is reduced to less than 30% for both stake mining and liquidity mining.

APY refers to the annualized percentage rate. Generally, the higher the APY, the higher the stake mining revenue will be, but at the same time it also incurs greater risk. Although the PNUT halving also lowered the APY of the staking projects on Peanut and reduced mining revenue, it also brought relative security.

Peanut's pool is not bad, but the recent halving of PNUT has caused the amount of SP delegation to drop from more than 9.5 million SP to around 7.5 million SP. This change is quite abrupt.

The fundamental problem is that the halving of PNUT has led to a reduction in the APY of Peanut's various staking projects. Although the scarcity of PNUT has increased, the price of PNUT has not increased by much.

Assuming that the increase in PNUT scarcity also results in the increase in the price of PNUT, even if the APY of Peanut's various staking projects is reduced, everyone is still willing to continue to mine on Peanut. After all, PNUT is valuable, even if the revenue is less, but the price is attractive.

I expect the price of PNUT to be 1$. Of course, such a price requires the joint efforts of you and me. When the synchronicity of the community continues to increase, the price will naturally rise. I believe that the price of PNUT will go up. The current disruption in Peanut's SP delegation is only temporary, and it is expected to break through the 10 Million hallmark in the later period.

However, it should be noted that Peanut is a DAO. For a DAO, the token price is of less concern, and the value created by the DAO is the most important. It's not about how much profit we can gain by working on it, but what kind of contribution we can bring to others, the community, and society with it.
