Magpie Mine - Astrophotography on Hive

Good evening Hiveworld and I hope your Saturday has been a good one. I had a late night last night out in the Peak District and a trip to Magpie Mine.

I got there early to capture the sunset...which was an epic one and then hung around for the stars to come out to play.

I tried a bit more stacking, as a continuation of my last post but on review my single shots didn't exhibit much noise but it's always good practice.

The title image here is a stacked image comprising of 10 star shots and 6 darks. The image below is a single exposure and I can't see much difference in noise at all.

The evening last night was so still and calming which instills further my adoration being outside amongst nature in the darkness of night. There is something exciting and stimulating about the ambiance and every noise is picked up upon and dissected. I suppose it's a remnant of our past, living in the wild and being fearful for their lives once night fell. Its tricky to get a hold of those emotions but once settled down the stresses and strains of the day dissipate and calm ensues.

The Prelude

I had planned on arriving later at the Mine but with the promise of a change of weather from cloudy to clear. I thought I'd make the effort and get there early.
I was rewarded by a crazy sky and some sublime light, as a snow shower passed through 10 minutes before the sun set. The sky behind the mine was nothing special but this tree behind me got well and truly lit up and the sky was biblical.

It's rare indeed for me to prefer the sunset shot over the ensuing night shot but this was the case last night.

I hope you enjoyed following along with my little trip out and fingers crossed the weather improves so I can get out again soon

Take care and enjoy the rest of your weekend.
