Saludos mi querida comunidad, Mi compadre amante de la pesca me invito para su travesía por el lago de Maracaibo, teniendo como centro de acopio la isla providencia que para hoy en día está abandonada, y usada por piratas del lago por las noches para sus fechorías, esta isla tiene su historia y se ha luchado para hacerla centro turístico del lago de Maracaibo.
Greetings my dear community, My friend who loves fishing invited me for his journey through Lake Maracaibo, having as a collection center the Providence Island that for today is abandoned, and used by pirates of the lake at night for their misdeeds This island has its history and it has been fought to make it a tourist center of Lake Maracaibo.
Les hare un pequeño resumen de esta isla de lo aprendido en la historia, se llamaba anteriormente isla de los burros y en 1828 cambio su nombre a isla de providencia, fue escogida por el libertador para servir de albergue a los enfermos de lepra. Allí vivieron los enfermos y personal médico hasta que se encontró la vacuna contra la lepra. Fue en 1984 que los pacientes que aún quedaban fueron trasladado a otro centro hospitalario ubicado en la periferia de Maracaibo quedando en el abandono la isla.
I will give you a brief summary of this island of what has been learned in history, it was previously called Donkey Island and in 1828 it changed its name to Providence Island, it was chosen by the liberator to serve as a shelter for leprosy patients. The sick and medical personnel lived there until the leprosy vaccine was found. It was in 1984 that the remaining patients were transferred to another hospital located on the outskirts of Maracaibo, leaving the island abandoned.
Se dice que en la orilla de la isla yace enterrado el resto del casco de uno de los galeones que participaron en la batalla naval del lago de Maracaibo. Dicho galeón resulto cañoneado durante la batalla y entonces sus tripulantes, antes del riesgo de hundirse, lo dirigieron hacia la cercana isla, en la cual se supone lograron salvar sus vidas. Nos adentramos a la isla y realizamos un recorrido de manera muy rápida por la soledad de la misma, solo hay ruinas y objetos tirados de la época, más un cementerio tenebroso, suficiente para salir despavorido de la zona.
It is said that the rest of the hull of one of the galleons that participated in the naval battle of Lake Maracaibo lies buried on the shore of the island. Said galleon was gunned down during the battle and then its crew, before the risk of sinking, directed it to the nearby island, where it is supposed they managed to save their lives. We entered the island and made a very quick tour of the solitude of it, there are only ruins and objects thrown away from the time, plus a dark cemetery, enough to leave the area terrified.
Preparamos todo para zarpar, nos dirigimos a la boca del rio Catatumbo donde sería el centro de pesca, nos fue bien se logró pescar unos robalos y payaras, cayo el atardecer y pude tomar una foto espectacular de la caída del sol en el lago, al día siguiente en pleno rio almorzamos una parrilla con pescado y unos chorizos que llevamos y disfrutar del día, fueron dos días espectaculares que espero se vuelvan a repetir y desde ese momento soy fanático de la pesca.
We prepared everything to set sail, we went to the mouth of the Catatumbo river where it would be the fishing center, we did well we managed to fish some snooks and payaras, dusk fell and I was able to take a spectacular photo of the sunset on the lake, at The next day in the middle of the river we had a grill with fish and some sausages that we took and enjoyed the day, they were two spectacular days that I hope will be repeated and from that moment I am a fan of fishing.
