I like to pause once every week or two and look back through my photos to relive memorable moments, remember the forgotten ones, and reflect upon adventures of the recent past. Sharing them here helps me live in the moment...retroactively.
The lockdown with a side of stay-at-home order continues but that can't stop me from living life!
How about a little outdoors, business, food, fun and beer? Yah we got that.
Notwithstanding the snow that was falling today, the season seemed to switch from winter to spring last week. I take the earliest opportunity to wear shorts and flip flops and can't recall that ever being mid April. It it heartening to see the buds on the trees and the first few robins of the year.

Nice weather means it is time to shoot the before picture of the back yard and start planning the conversion from tundra to jungle. I hung out with our buddy @davedickeyyall that morning and forgot to shoot the before pic before I put up the trampoline. The shocks of yellow on the right are the woody grasses that will provide 50 or so bamboo-like sticks for standing up sprouts, weaving trellises for climbing plants, and kindling for the fire pit.
Weather like this generally means getting out and doing some soggy, early season golf. Not this year just yet as the provincial government has decided that out door, in the sun, socially distanced out door exercise, not linked to any cases of Covid in 2020, where was I? Oh yah. Golf courses are closed in the lockdown.
I sent this to my friend who runs a local golf course and he shares this as the case to open up, in our rural areas outside of concentrated population.

Speaking of friends who run local businesses, I get to provide a little value to clients https://revival.house for fantastic pizza, and https://www.jobsitebrewing.ca/ for the IPA! My efforts with https://towncriermarketing.ca in their crusade to rally each and every local business to connect with the community and achieve #shoplocal are getting noticed. We have been nominated for a local chamber of commerce professional award for our efforts. I will tease that for a later story that is presently playing itself out and default to shedding the spotlight on our clients.
Since we are staying in and obeying the stay-at-home order, what better way to spend that time at home than playing Dungeons & Dragons with friends from across the province? We used some of our newfound Doge winnings to purchase the Fantasy Grounds desktop game emulator. This means, those nerdy, dice-rolling, RPG sessions of our youth can happen virtually from the convenience of your own nerd cave...I mean man cave. Beer and hanging with old friends weekly is as good as it gets.
Speaking of beer, yah you know the drill. I have to uphold my title of The Blockchain Beerologist perpetually. This is your exclusive preview of my post for the monumental 200th weekly #BeerSaturday virtual pub gathering. @detlev and the gang have to connect on some ways to drink extra hard in celebration and redefine beer on the blockchain yet again. Of course there was beer this week.
We end the week with a family birthday. My not so little one decided that she would love to make her own birthday cake. My better half felt kinda bad having her make her own birthday cake and I had to assure her she would absolutely love that. See how many shes and hers I have to deal with?
Anyhow, she made the cake into a frog pond. Dyed the vanilla icing herself and brought the frogs to life. Happy birthday to the 1/365 people celebrating today. These amphibian hosers are for you. 🍁

We are in Grey lockdown with an added stay at home order, parks and golf courses closed, and the police with the power to randomly stop anyone without cause and get their address. The police leaders have assured the public they will not be exercising this power but the public is getting a little itchy with their social media musings. Still, life is good and the weather is just getting better!

It's always a nice time of year when you get to swith into shorts mode. We are just hitting that here now too.
Sucks about everything being closed for the moment. I can wait to see the golf courses reopen which should be in the next month or so. It's a great sport with very low risk and no reason that people can't be out playing.
Fingers crossed that they get the courses opened very soon.
Yah man.
For me, golf is a little more important because our team loves to play and we have a weekly, beery 4-hour strategy meeting. That and the golf course is a client of ours and we would REALLY like to see them back in business.

Two years ago you did a post about your backyard. You had a pool there. You said you had to do a lot, but I liked the backyard :)

I don't think that's great that the police have the authority to randomly stop anyone and get their address for no reason.
Yes this is the third year for the trampoline and expansion of the garden capacity in our yard. Making the most out of the time at home and eating well for sure.
The police municipalities issued statements that they were not going to stop people randomly and were there to serve and protect. The government mandate is making all of the conspiracy theorist nut jobs even crazier though!
