I was doing daily sketches of mermaids for #mermay challenge, but recently stumbled upon something more inspiring- #mythicmay. Mythicmay was started by Twitter/Instagram user "charamath"and it consists of list of 31 mythical creatures/gods/demons to draw for every day of May.
First that I have some drawn when joining in is
Ankou
Ankou comes from Breton and is beloved to be carrying recently deceased to the realm of the Dead on his cart - drawn by two horses.
The details vary as to if he looks like human or a skeleton, the horses are normal or ill-looking.
Oh and he's supposed to wear a large hat.
So with that in mind - here's my reinterpretation of him.
Process was simple enough aa always when using only ink:
- visualize
- hover hand over lines of perspective and over actual lines that I plan to draw (generally) to help myself better visualize
- draw
