Sometimes it is the small simple fascinations, that makes a great day just that little bit more extraordinary...
Today while I was tending to my plants I came across some butterflies, gently perched on the side of one of the planting bags blissfully fornicating without a care in the world.
I don't personally think that there is anything particularly special about this, other than my own fascination with these little bugs getting it on in the great outdoors.
There was just something so amazingly gentle about the entire process and the symmetry of their adjoining wings, even as they both moved around.
In the picture below the shadowed contrast of the wings of the two individual butterfly's, with the bottom butterfly being just ever so slightly a darker shade with more predominant markings as apposed to its counterpart above him, almost created an illusion of a reflection in stead of two individual adjoining butterflies.
These little guys are more commonly known as the window acraea (aka Acraea oncaea) and they are from the family Nymphalidae. And the can be commonly found KwaZulu-Natal, Transvaal, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, from eastern Africa to Abyssinia and in Congo. source
It also made me think a bit about what we could take away from this and I ended up searching online for the symbolism of the butterfly. And I came across a really gorgeous site that depicts beautiful symbolic meaning from nature, and what I found resonated quite fiercely with my current state of being:
