In sport fishing, there are countless secrets known to many, tips, tricks, popular sayings. The more years you have been practicing this activity, the wiser you become absorbing the knowledge and experiences of yourself and others.

A fact of so many that are swarming around says that the fish "bites" more when the weather is stormy. I can attest that sometimes this works, as many times as it doesn't work at all.

Something like the latter happened to us one day when we had gone fishing in the Mar Chiquita lagoon invited by my childhood friend Horacio who resides in Patagonia but who had gone that summer to spend a few days on the Atlantic coast, more precisely in the seaside resort of Mar Azul.

The weather was hot and humid with a forecast of storms for that afternoon, but we did not care, I had driven 350 kilometers from my house and I was not willing to stop sharing a day with my friend and even more a day of fishing. I left home on a Friday afternoon after working all day and arrived in Mar Azul quite late since the route was full of vehicles, we had a quick dinner and sleep because the next day we had to get up early to take advantage of the whole day, at the end In the afternoon he had to return to Buenos Aires since on Sunday he had another unpostponable commitment.

We arrived at the large saltwater lagoon and immediately started fishing, dense clouds were forming over the Atlantic Ocean and it was evident that it would arrive afternoon. We believed that the fishing was going to be good, "the fish is activated when there is a storm" say the old fishermen of all life.

We enjoyed the company and the personal chat after almost a year without seeing each other, however, the fish did not activate and we did not catch anything all day and a seagull floating calmly in the waters of the lagoon watched us as mockingly as we started back. . Point for fish and against the popular saying.

I left my friend in his rented cabin in Mar Azul and after saying goodbye to his family, I began my return to Buenos Aires under torrential rain. I was so tired that at the fork in the highway instead of taking the exit to the Federal Capital I took the one that goes to La Plata, I had to do 6 kilometers to the opposite side of where I was going until I reached a bridge that allowed me to resume the correct road.

As I said at the beginning, sport fishing is full of tricks, tips, and advice, in the future I will cross off the good bite when there is a storm, at least until the next time I go fishing in a storm and are successful.
