PayPal goes crypto. What does this mean for FIO?

Huge news: https://in.reuters.com/article/paypal-cryptocurrency-idINL1N2HB14U

Unlike previous reports of PayPal involvement in crypto, this seems quite official. This is one of many steps required to bring about mass adoption of cryptocurrency which is what FIO is all about. As users on PayPal and later Venmo get used to sending and receiving cryptocurrency using their handles, my hope is they will graduate to self-sovereign control of their own FIO Wallet Handle. Similar to how many started on the Internet with centralized services like AOL before eventually moving to the real decentralized Internet.

If you don’t have you FIO Wallet Handle (FIO Address) yet, you can get a free (for now) address here: https://fioprotocol.io/free-fio-addresses/

Sort:

does it work for https://guarda.com/desktop as well? (or just web and mobile)?

I think FIO currently only works with their website integration, but I‘ll ask.

Do you know offhand the list of exchanges that we can connect with Paypal?

I don't know of any any, actually. I imagine that will change in the future.

What makes FIO so special?

Try it out and find out.

No more long confusing public addresses. Instead just a human readable FIO Handle like luke@stokes for any cryptocurrency on any chain.

Secure, private payment requests to avoid man in the middle attacks and the many problems with public key exchange.

Memos (or structured data) for any transaction on any chain.

FIO makes crypto joyful to use.

For real, try it out. Get a FIO address in a supported wallet and let me know what you think of it compared to dealing with public addresses. You can, for example buy something with a FIO Request here: https://shop.fioprotocol.io

Thanks for the update, bookmarked !

Wow. Great find. Thanks! This could be big.
