Spotting Cognitive Warfare: Republicans Pounce

in #pelosi4 years ago

Look at this tweet and the headline:

Pelosi takes heat over visit to California hair salon

It's such a perfect example: a protected figure of the far-left, a Democrat luminary in the United States, does something so obviously bad that there can be no reasonable excuse for it.

She privately opened a hair salon that the Democrat Governor of California had ordered closed for normal people, so she could get her hair done.

But the Associated Press, which is the most important wire service in America, frames the story with the REACTION to the bad thing she did, instantly downplaying the actual malfeasance.

That's how the far-left dominated media frame and distort everything. I used a term in my title: "Republicans Pounce". Radio host and podcaster, Dan Bongino, has pointed out this specific way of working in relation to US politics for ages, but once you understand framing, you see it everywhere that activism has replaced journalism.

If you want a fantastic explanation of framing (as it relates to Israel/Palestine) you this from Matti Friedman is brilliant. Once you start to see this you'll be much less likely to be duped by media framing.
