When I saw that the new theme of the Deranged Photography Contest is portraits, I thought that I might as well skip this week. If you have been following my blog the last 4 years you'll have inevitably noticed that people are not my strong suit. Although I did a few portrait shootings when I had my studio in Athens, I never considered myself good at it. Actually there is only one portrait that I am really proud of but I have already shared it before and I don't want to repeat myself. As a matter of fact I have used it for an older version of the same contest, so that shot was out of the question. If I got you intrigued you can see it here!
Nevertheless before I give up the idea of entering the contest all together, I plugged in a very old hard drive with pictures from the era that I was still running the studio (2000 - 2013) and I have found a folder that I had almost forgotten. A friend of mine was directing a theatrical play and he asked me to take a few pictures of his actress for the press release. We were in total 4 people in the studio and the atmosphere was more friendly than professional. So in between many laughs and in a casual mood I think we pulled through a pretty serious work.
I added a few shots from the rehearsals and the actual performance in the theatre for a more complete view. Here is an article in Greek with some of my pictures (without any reference to my name, as it is used in Greece) and info about the play. I have also found this review for the same play, performed by an English group, in London, for those that want to read about the plot. I will only say that this is not a blithe play and definitely not one with happy ending.
All the pictures and the words are mine.
Thank you for reading and if you want to know more about me you can check out my introduction post.

Thats a pretty cool background for shooting portraits. Gives a newspaper or comic book feel.
Thanks!
It was the director's idea and it served its purpose well!
