The Fire Witch - Fire Light Painting at Oybin

in #photofeed4 years ago

After practicing a few times I got the right location for the Fire Light Painting.

Castle Oybin and Monastery was the right set and brought the right setting. Amazing friends who let us play anywhere we wanted. Even Fire was allowed. Super token of trust. I am eternally grateful for that opportunity.

What happened here?

At first, I would scan the model with a flat LED car light (so we can see her nicely) then I would grab the fire torch and create the wings. When possible (like in the first shot) I placed a red light in the background. That looked pretty cool with the smoke that came off the torch when extinguished. Between each step, my friend Danilo would cover the camera when I went to prepare the next step of each step of the shot.

All in all these are the basics for the first (always) single exposure Fire Light Painting shot.:

The second and third image gives you an impression of how useful it can be to have two cameras at the same time. The first straight forward shot comes out of my camera. The last shot is from my friend Felix Leda. He placed his Sony a bit off to get a different angle. I love that we have the same shot from two angles.

This is what the tool looks like. I use normal candlelight oil as fuel to burn. That is easy to handle and the effect is really nice.

All of us are super thankful for this opportunity and are looking forward to our “come back” in Oybin may be in 2021. It was once again a super amazing time.

I hope it was informative and maybe also inspirational. If you have more questions please do not hesitate. I am happy to share my knowledge.
