I've actually measured the temperature.
I used a laser-aimed IR thermometer on two ground surfaces, one exposed to the moonlight and one in the shadow. I crosschecked to control for influence of emissivity setting. I did measure a lower temperature in the moonlight than in the shade. It was indeed an intriguing result.
