Drift Season Starting

in #photography4 years ago

The drifting season is starting, a little bit delayed due to COVID but better later than not at all.
2 weeks ago I went to Laitse rally park where some drivers just did some practice driving and I wanted to get some shots.
The weather was crazy hot with over 33C temperatures. I can't imagine sitting in a drift car with no air conditioner.

Most of the cars were street class cars so I didn't expect too much action. The car below is the street class and the car on the above photo is the PRO-AM car, I think.

The red car crashed into the fence fraction of a second after this shot.

This is definitely a PRO class car that costs around 100k. The guy with this car is the one who started Estonian drift culture over a decade ago.

We have one championship coming up this weekend and I will be there. The problem is that on Saturday we have also a storm coming up in forecasts and much rain. Well, that definitely sounds bad and disappointing but we will see how things will escalate. Hoping for the best, or at least it won't rain all day long.

Laitses?

Laitse yep.

Piiroja oli ka seal v

Laitses ei olnud. Aga täna käisin Kehalas võsitlusel, seal oli.

Really nice photos!

That last one is a 335i? Or an M3?

Thanks for sharing and greetings from Mexico.

Thanks. Originally it should be 128i E82. But it has a Nascar V8 in it and the only stock piece is the roof of this car :D

Nice pictures

Thanx!

You are welcome

The last image is actually nice ...

Some amazing photos here, mate! Cheers for sharing that. I guess the lockdowns are putting some pent up feeling in these petrolheads, since I remember a few lads doing donuts and drifts in a quiet carpark near my apartment. Clearly illegal, but unfortunately without a clear line-of-sight from my window :-(

33C is pretty hot, and that's coming from a Malaysia who's used to warm and humid weathers. Getting into a non-AC car is going to be toasty! I'm not all too familiar with Beemers, but they're seemingly quite popular with drifting. Must be some clever engineering to that rear-drift, chassis, of BMW's popular marketing term... "50-50 weight distribution" XD

Thanx! Yep, BMW-s are pretty popular here. Mainly because it's cheaper to tune them and many parts available to get fast. Im a fan of classic JDM cars, at least we have some here drifting.

Ah, neat! I guess old Beemers are pretty common here too, though it looks like drifters prefer some old JDM classics, like an old Sylvia. Asian-made cars have lower import taxes in Malaysia, so I guess that could be one reason why.

Hey what's up dude, I haven't had the chance to see your posts lately, damn work schedules, but I love being able to see your pictures, and I can't imagine the shutter speed to freeze the moment. Maybe over 1/2000?

Glad you like em! Actually the shutter speed wasn't very fast. I used around 1/600 to get a speed effect also. If I were to use 1/2000 then there would be no spinning wheels and so on.

Oh yeah that's right, I hadn't paid attention to that detail haha
