Badshahi Mosque (Imperial Mosque) is one of the most visited places in Lahore. This mosque was built in the Mughal Era. Badshahi Mosque is famous for its beauty and this mosque was built by Mughal emperor Aurangzeb in 1671. After the fall of Mughals this mosque was used as a garrison and also as a fort by Sikh and British Empire. After the Muslims protest in 1852 British administration made a Badshahi Mosque’s Authority to restore and re-establish this place of worship.

Badshahi Mosque is located near the Lahore Fort and is also situated outside the Walled City of Lahore or old Lahore. This Mosque is considered one of the most iconic landmarks of Lahore. This mosque is a great example of Mughal Architecture, for this mosque’s decoration Mughals used red stones with white marbles. Badshahi Mosque has remained the largest Mosque of the Mughal Era and after the construction of Faisal Mosque, in Islamabad it is the second-largest Mosque of Pakistan. Badshahi Mosque can accommodate 10,000 worshipers in the prayer hall and 1,000,000 worshipers in the courtyard.

Badshahi Mosque is renowned for the beautiful art work done on it with carved marble, red sandstone and plaster work which has been used in corridors and in arches. The Mosque's interior depicts the true Mughal Era art work like floral pattern and geometrical shapes that you can see in all the major buildings constructed by Mughals. The Mosque’s grand entry gate has a marvelous art work on it.

This Mosque has been established as a fine tourist spot so you can find every facility here. For a pick and drop service you can find horse carriage and truck art decorated rickshaws. Inside the mosque you can visit all corridors and get a panoramic view of Lahore.

This Mosque is very well maintained and you can see very detailed art work inside main prayer hall. This mosque still holds its grandeur and beauty even after so many centuries.

Over all it is a great place to visit and you can find great restaurants here which serve good food and you can also visit mini museum built inside the Mosque.
