Side adventure

in #photography7 years ago

Does it get easier or harder when the target is at sight? At the moment I sense the frustration of how slowly time is moving. I am almost halfway there. Maybe instead of frustration, there should be the excitement of how quickly the first half has gone. However, that is not the case. Perhaps, the issue is too much focus on the end result. It is almost the same as with creating. When you picture something in your mind and you get frustrated with not getting it exactly the way you have envisioned it. You forget to enjoy the process of creation itself.

Holidays are coming up soon and maybe it is a good idea to take my mind off the target for a little while. I have decided to go on a side adventure and hike Slieve Donard. Alone. Even thinking about it makes me excited and a little nervous since I’ve never hiked a mountain completely on my own. It will take some good preparations and planning, but it is exactly the kind of distraction I am looking for at the moment. Besides, why the heck not? I want to see that view from up there and to be able to say that I’ve done it. It will be challenging I’m sure yet physically I feel (even with my busted knees) I can pull off 9 kilometers up to the summit at 850m.

I will share more when I’ve done my preparations and research, but for now here are some shots of nature waking up. Spring’s here and oh the light! ^^

I guess spring does finally appear to be springing, at least where you are. It still seems a bit dreary around me, but things are starting to look a bit more alive. Thank you for the lovely photos.

At the moment I sense the frustration of how slowly time is moving.

I struggle a lot, myself, with patience. It's a foreign concept to me. If there is something I want which I can't have now and have to wait for, my natural inclination is to curl up into a ball of despair, forget everything else, and focus on how unfair it is that it is not time yet. It is... the wrong way of doing things. Because, as you suggested...

Perhaps, the issue is too much focus on the end result.

Probably. If we focus on the end result of everything, it means we won't ever focus on the journey itself, which is what it's all about after all.

The end result of everything is... nothing. The only place we ever find something is everywhere in between. Of course it is easier said than grokked. It's harder for some of us to remember than others I think, myself included... but I suppose it is something we could all do well to remind ourselves of now and then.

On a less philosophical note... what inspired you to take this particular side quest? Why Slieve Donard? Did you just decide... "I feel like walking up a mountain. Alone. What's the tallest one in the country, since I am a badass?"

The journey is filled with....

No, it doesn't. Time flies :-)
Happy hiking!

Oh Giant's Causeway in the artwork! ^^ After I've hiked Donard, that will be my next destination. Maybe my time will start flying soon too when I'm busy with all the planning, hiking, and stuff.

Thank you @gtg! Hugs

Watch out with hugs because...

Sorry ;-)

You have been infected by the King of Disease!

Will you quarantine yourself?

Or will you spread the plague?

Take your time and enjoy whatever you are doing. Time never stands still and it is about enjoying the journey, not the final result. Can't believe it's nearly Easter already.I wish time would slow down.
