Constitution Bridge, Venice, Italy

I should have known this was a Calatrava bridge. As with many of his bridges, there has been a lot of delays and problems around it. For starters, its modern design is not really compatible with Venice's architecture. It also is considered not necessary, since there were bridges nearby.

I found it a bold move to place a bridge like this in Venice. But because the train station is also more modern, it seemed like a good way to make it all blend together better. I didn't notice any other ways to get to the other side (I didn't really look for it either, to be honest) and because the bridge was heavily used, I think unnecessary is not really the case. I was disappointed to see a few glass tiles to be shattered. I am hoping its maintenance isn't very costly.

All in all, I personally like this bridge and think it's a nice addition to Venice. But I am a bit of a sucker for Calatrava designs anyway...

Wow this is an interesting and very modern bridge for Venice. I don't remember it from when I was there in the summer of 2019. Cool shot.

it's located between the train station and the bus station. A bit further from the main tourist attractions
