Mirando la ciudad desde La Cabaña
La Cabaña es una fortaleza militar con una historia terrible, como todos los sitios vinculados a la defensa, a la guerra y a las cárceles. Pero desde hace muchísimos años ya no es más un sitio lúgubre y se convirtió en un museo, y hace más de 20 años que es el espacio donde se desarrolla la Feria del Libro de La Habana.
La Cabaña is a military fortress with a terrible history, like all sites linked to defense, war and prisons. But for many years it is no longer a gloomy place and has become a museum, and for more than 20 years it has been the space where the Havana Book Fair takes place.
Desde allí, a la hora del crepúsculo o al anochecer, es el mejor lugar para observar la ciudad. Con el ruido de los autos amortiguado por la presencia del mar, podemos observar una Habana silenciosa, acariciada levemente por las escasas luces, que le dan una sobria coloración.
From there, at twilight or dusk, it is the best place to observe the city. With the noise of the cars muffled by the presence of the sea, we can observe a silent Havana, slightly caressed by the few lights, which give it a sober coloration.
La brisa que corre en esta pequeña colina es perfecta, también, para sentarse a ver las últimas formas del sol, redondeado tras los grises edificios habaneros.
The breeze that runs on this small hill is perfect, too, to sit and watch the last shapes of the sun, rounded behind the gray Havana buildings.
Y junto a La Cabaña está El Morro, con su faro antiguo y su luz moderna, que guía a los barcos para que encuentren la entrada de la bahía.
And next to La Cabaña is El Morro, with its old lighthouse and its modern light, which guides ships to find the entrance to the bay.
El olor del mar, mientras El Capitolio enciende sus primeras luces y la Habana entera nos hacen soñar desde nuestro sitio preferido para admirar la ciudad.
The smell of the sea, while the Capitol turns on its first lights and the whole of Havana make us dream from our favorite place to admire the city.
