Happy Birthday! Here's some Mint!

This life is a gift! And it smells great!

Check out this plant -

This is hierbabuena. There are many types of this good plant, spearmint and peppermint are two of the most well known.

This plant can easily grow in a planter and hang out with you all year round. It will grow together well with aloe vera, so if you already have an established planter with aloe you could introduce some of these mint roots into the planter.

We have a wonderful plant here close to the house in a homemade planter bed. Because it propagates by the roots, also known as rhizome propagation, if your planter bed material allows, it will happily grow out the sides, which is a pleasant look.

Here is Ledis' plant, moving down the planter, and just today we made tea, shared some leaves and some roots with a friend. He will hopefully plant the roots and make tea with the leaves.

The leaves can also be eaten, as they contain essential oils with very potent properties! This is where the many varieties of this plant come in, the essential oils in each one are slightly different.

One day we would like to study more about the essential oils of many medicinal herbacious plants, especially ones that can be grown in the shade of other crops.

Enjoy your day everyone! Count your blessings in species of plants :)

Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!!

Love You!!

So happy I got to see your face today!!

I have 3 types of mint growing on my balcony, just love it in iced teas. And at the end of the summer, harvest the leaves and dry them for tea

Thats fantastic! After drying, how do you store them?

I just put them in a Tupperware container... they hold for months
