For the past few days, I've been experimenting on card rentals, about the strong cards that I might possibly buy. Then I remember my first ever rental since I started blogging on Splinterlands. The first ever monster I consider on card rental is the CALADUUM. It is a Legendary Fire Monster with a powerful ability.
Today, we are going to talk about this monster. We are going to talk about its abilities, strengths, weaknesses, strategies we may apply, and most importantly, the perfect companion of this monster. I may also share some effective lineups that starters may use while this monster.

THE LORE
Deep beneath the cracked ground of the Burning Lands, under the lowest caves of the Serpentines lies a magical stone chamber that has sat undisturbed for many thousands of years. The stones that make the walls of this chamber are living; they are the Vuto-duum, ancient refugees from a distant destroyed planet. They have hidden here in the rocks since the lifeless times, infusing them with a special type of magic that emits a faint violet fog. A cave-in at the Dwarven mines above recently opened a thin passage all the way to the Great Lava Lake at 1200 fathoms below the surface, and the magic escaped.
A small wisp of the violet fog eventually found its way to the Lava Lake and dived in. With complete control over the molten rock, The Vuto-duum were able to finally craft the perfect stone body for their ultimate warrior. Caladuum is infused with all the ancient wisdom and knowledge of the Vuto-duum, as well as their magical powers. He is destined to free them forever from their prison of stone, and the Splinterlands shall know a new champion.
CARD POWER
CALADUUM is a Legendary Fire Monster with Void ability at Level 1. Monsters with this kind of ability can reduce the magic attacks into halves. It is like the Shield ability but the only difference is Shield ability can reduce melee and ranged attacks into halves. This monster has three (3) magic attacks, one (1) speed, three (3) shields, and ten (10) lives. Magic attacks are direct attacks. It can directly give damage to your opponent's monsters. By having three magic attacks, this monster gains power to successfully finish the game. It is a huge advantage in the game to have magic attackers on the field. In terms of speed, this monster is not pretty reliable on that. It only has one speed, which means it does not have any chance of evading an attack. The things that make this monster stay longer on the field are its shields and lives. Three shields is such a big help because all the range and melee attacks will be resisted by the shields. Even one shield can resist 10 melee or range attacks. That is how powerful or useful the shields are in the game. Also, this monster has a very impressive life that can surely make it survive lots of rounds.
OTHER ABILITIES
Aside from its current abilities, this monster can still improve and gain new abilities. Here are the abilities it can learn:
STRENGTH, WEAKNESS, AND STRATEGIES
- It is Best to Place Caladuum in Second Position. Even though this monster has tank ability, its power to resist range attacks and melee attacks is not that strong nd its kind of attack is too important to lose in the battle. Second place is the best position for this monster because it is the best tank-substitute in the battle. A tank-substitute is the monster on the line up that has high defense stats and has powerful ability but its strong defense only works for specific kind of attack. On this case, its high defense only works on magic attackers due to its Void ability.
- Use Caladuum When Battling Against Water Unit. In Splinterlands, players have an opportunity to see the previous units that their opponent used in the past battles. With that, we can predict the possible unit that your opponent will use. If you see and somehow sense that your opponent will use water unit in the battle, I suggest to pick Caladuum as one of your monster since magic attacks cannot miss. Water unit is known for their high speed and it will be difficult for you to win against monsters with high speed, using only melee or range attacks.
- Team Up Caladuum with Living Lava or Any Monster With Shield Ability. Shield ability is such a powerful defense against melee and range attacks. Combining it with Void ability would be lethal and surely, your enemy will experience difficulty on winning the game. Living Lava is the perfect tank to Caladuum because Caladuum can make attacks at the second position while Living Lava will resist all the melee and range attacks on the battle. With this combo, you can maximize the power of Caladuum and let it make massive damages during battle.
