THE AGOR LONGTAIL

HELLO SPLINTERLANDS FANS, WELCOME TO SPLINTERVERSE !

BLOG PUBMAT (3).png

Splinterlands launched new card edition called the RIFTWATCHERS and the community went crazy about it. New cards was released and by looking at those cards, they ae all pretty strong and a threat for other players. As I mentioned on my last blog post, Neutral Unit is the most flexible unit in Splinterlands because the monsters their can be paired up with any Summoners. For Dragon Unit, it is the opposite of the function of Neutral Unit. The Dragon Summoners can be paired up with any Elemental Unit. That gives the players an access to the two monsters: the Monsters of the Chosen Elemental Unit and the Dragon Monsters. Looking at the the Riftwatchers' monsters, I notice that there is a standout Dragon Monster: the AGOR LONGTAIL.

I can feel now your excitement! So without further ado, lets get to know this monster.

THE LORE

The mountains of Dragon’s Roost reach high into the sky, their peaks tearing at the bellies of passing clouds. Many species of dragon have made their homes here among the crags and ledges. They live in relative harmony, away from the nuisance of the two-legged creatures that populate most of Draykh-Nahka. There is one that is different, though. She makes her home deep within the subterranean halls of the mountain range. Other dragons avoid her, and few will speak her name. The dragonborn know her well, though, and have worshiped her for as long as they can remember.

She is Agor Longtail, one of the largest red dragons ever to have lived.

Twice each year, on the equinox, a host of dragonborn visit the lair of Agor to pay homage to her. They bring tributes, and Agor offers wisdom—a small fraction of her eternal knowledge. On the summer solstice, she leaves the comfort of her mountainous lair and takes to the skies, raining death upon any who have dared to wrong her disciples. On the winter solstice, she visits the Suam, leader of the naga and the Gloridax, to offer counsel regarding governance, economics, the military, and other matters of state. There is no mistaking, however, that Agor could destroy the Grand Consul of the Gloridax with one flaming breath if she so chose.

After the Chaos Legion’s invasion, most dragonborn gave up their pilgrimage to Agor, and those who attempted it were killed. At first, Agor thought they had forsaken her, and the great dragon fell into a dark brooding. She became angry with herself for letting these simple mortals affect her. She was a dragon, and they were insects—insignificant snippets of life that meant nothing.

But every living thing needs adoration, and Agor was no different. Eventually, curiosity got the better of her. She ventured out to discover what had become of her disciples. It was then she saw the devastation wrought by the legions of chaos. Her fury sparked a rage so great that the roar of Agor Longtail nearly split the heavens asunder.

“Why do you fawn over these hideous creatures?” the magi asked as he rolled his eyes and smiled.

“The Dragonborn are my disciples.” Agor tilted her head, the scales of her neck clicking. “I feel a great power running beneath your mortal flesh. Tell me, magi, who is your master?”

The magi descended into a fit of maniacal laughter. The dragonsguard on either side of him yanked on the chains that bound him.

He said, “My master will be revealed. All in good time. In fact, he may have a use for you. Power and loyalty are highly rewarded in the halls of chaos.”

Agor lowered her head and sniffed at the deranged human. He stank of eldritch magic.

The man jerked, his face twitched, and his eyes bulged. Drool ran down his chin from his slack mouth. A distant voice echoed through his body. “You are Agor Longtail,” it said. “I feel your presence, long ago, at the birth of this realm.”

A strange sensation grew in Agor’s mind, a trespass of will tugging at her subconscious.

“Come to me, Agor. Join the ranks of chaos and fulfill your potential.”

A preternatural warmth tingled in Agor’s belly.

The voice continued. “When I am done with this realm, it could be yours. When its mana has been sucked dry—”

Agor struck with a hiss, her jaws ripping the magi in half and silencing the voice.

She sat back on her haunches and frowned. It had been long indeed since she had felt this strange, nagging emotion, and it was a struggle to remember. Was it curiosity or fear?

THE POWER OF AGOR LONGTAIL

image.png

AGOR LONGTAIL is a Legendary Dragon Monster with Flying, Taunt, and Void Armor abilities. Monsters with Flying ability has increase chance of evading attacks of the monsters who do not have flying ability. This is a great advantage in the battle because missed attacks can make this monster live longer. Monsters with Taunt ability can attract all the attacks of the opponent. This is kind of great combination with flying ability because if this monster will only be the target, then surely, it will just evade some of the attacks. And since this monster can attract attacks, it is also important to have resistance in magic attacks. Monsters with Void Armor ability can do that. Void Armor ability makes the attacker targets first the shield of this monster. That can save a lot of health for this monster.

In terms of stats, this monster have 2 magic attacks, 3 melee attacks, 3 speed, 6 shields, and 11 lives. The two magic attacks is helpful because even though it is just 2 damage, it is still a direct damage to the health of the target. The 3 melee attacks is also great because that can surely take down a monster in just one attack. The 3 speed is not that great because that only means that this monster has 10% to 20% chance of evading chance. Thankfully, it has flying ability so we do not have to worry about the speed of this monster. Going on the defensive state of this monster, we can say that 6 shields and 11 lives can go a really long way. With that kind of defensive state, we can classify this monster as one of the tanks in the battle.

WAYS TO POWER UP AGOR LONGTAIL

There are two ways to elevate the power of this monster. The first one is by levelling it up and second is by partnering it with other card. Lets talk first on our first option!

At LEVEL 3, this monster gains new ability called Heal. Monsters with this kind of ability can restores a portion of the monster's health on each round. At this level, Agor Longtail have 14 lives. Base on that, at this level, we can say that it is now one of the meta in the Dragon Unit. It is now full-packed. In order to achieve this level, combination of six cards must be done.

Aside from levelling up the monster, the other way to power it up is to find the perfect partner for Agor Longtail. Due to expensiveness of this monster, I find starter cards that are perfect with this monster. I choose starter cards so that players would not worry on buying my suggested cards. So base on my evaluation, the cards that can be used to power up Agor Longtail are:

  • MONSTERS WITH TANK HEAL

Tank Heal is very important for Agor Longtail. It will receive all of the attacks as long as it is on the field in order to keep safe the other cards. So to extend its life, a tank heal must be done. Also, extending its life in the field means increasing the damage capability that you can do towards your opponent. You will have better chance of winning as long as Agor Longtail is on the field.

  • MONSTERS WITH REPAIR

Agor Longtail has high Shield, with that, it will be helpful if each round, the shield will be repaired. Surely, it will take a lot of damage especially now that all magic attacks will hit it first. So by repairing it, it will lengthen the existence of Agor Longtail in the battlefield.
