Reason Not Needed

If nothing else,
Rain is persistent,
Insistent

It smokes
In chimneys
And darkens bricks,

Shines on slate roofs
And beads on
Leaded glass.

It pervades everything
with mystery
and gloom

Draws me to the window
In a darkened room,
Searching for you

But where?
In the past
Or present

Or the swirling haze
Of mist
And drizzly days?

Now without boundaries
Or any clear lines
to separate your dreams from mine

We could even meet
In another time,

Indifferent
To days and seasons...

With only a downpour
To provide a reason.

Sort:

Gentle pitter patter of rain flowing softly down the window, glimmering reflections of what has been or what could become.

van Gogh painting depicting imminent arrival takes one traveling down memories of time.

Well done with both selection of art and words to cover content in a meaningful manner.
