Her Own Reflection
pretty in pink
in a garden green
a hushed translucent air, stillness
a brownian, rose-colored mirror
she stalks her own reflection
aided by furry, winged voyagers
clumsy and slow, sleepy and fated
still, they get her there
the bay reaches out
a brisk cat's-paw
sharp and insistent
invades and pillages
her quite bed
scatters minute, buzzing drones
sentry and messengers retreat
with what has been gathered
back to the hive
sweetness will be fermented
with what the tiger has given
mislaid excess
is wasted in the careless grip
of a salty westerly

The material world
Is the mirror to the Tao
All reflections are shallow
Lacking in substance
In comparison to what casts it
Yet the reflection does not know this
It behaves as though it is the source
Unaware and unknowingly
There is no reflection
Without the source
There is no mirror
Without the builder
The Tao is both builder and source
To the mirror …
Immeasurable
Ungraspable
Timeless
Radiant
Do not measure
Do not grasp
Understand eternity
Shed the mask of the internal foe
Reflect radiance
