Lose your conscience and humanity. People are numbers. They are objects and tools to be used for your ambitions and goals. Although, pretending that you have moral virtues is highly useful.
Gather money. Now that you have no conscience, you can do whatever it takes to provide yourself some financial resources.
Tell lies, a lot. One of the most hated things in the world is truth. Tell people what they want to hear, capacity of your imagination is the limit. Science, facts, objective evidences are useful so you can make good spin with them. You have all the answers and solutions for every problem, not just any, but the best.
Gather and organize people. After completing rhetoric exercises, seduce people to join you, share your vision of bright future of your company, organization or political party. Take some corrupt people, they will join you out of interest; also, take naive, true believers in established ideas and goals, you.ll need someone to actually do the work needed. You have the money, you know who and how to lie and people dedicated to work; start with the campaign.
Make your own rules. Now, elections are over and you are at the throne. Time to make new rules, regardless the laws. Though, you can change some of them too. Occupy sources of information. Censorship, reality shows, propaganda, mixed messages (dear people, see how everything is getting better since I took the leadership / we are in danger, be prepare to make sacrifice for the greater good).
Provide support. Lick bottoms of those more powerful than you and promise to do whatever they tell you for gaining their support. Then tell people that those sharks came to you because you are very important potential partner in whatever. On the other hand, you can be cruel to those under you in the hierarchy and enjoy them licking your bottom.

As the person you have become, you will have real opponents but if that is not enough, invent some. People need to be afraid all the time. Pay someone to organize some sort of counter-you groups and orchestrate expressions of revolt, rebellions even riots form time to time; and then portray them as bad (see how they are destroying what you, decent people, created so far). As enemies counts not only other people but also all economic, social and environmental issues that you can think of. And there is so much of them. More is better. Just be careful how you combine them, everything has limits.
Expand and extend. Bit by bit, with the help of those corrupt around you, take over justice system and share your piece of the pie in all illegal activities which are occurring at your territory.
Enjoy your reign. Stage is all set and drama is rolling, now you can enjoy benefits of your previous efforts to come this far. Don.t be afraid to use people, if you run out of them, you can always import some new from other places. Eyes wide shut parties recommended for relax.
Always blame someone else. When faced with accusations of misdoing, find someone to blame, or unfortunate circumstances, or both. That guy who did not want to sell his forest is now lucky to have your generous offer, ten times lower than initial, for buying dead ground after the fires have destroyed all his property. Climate change, too many fires, irresponsible campers... you are here to help your people. If faced with broken promises, well, I did all I could but I am not bigger than life, just human, one of you my dear people...
