NYE Parties Become Priority For Police This Week

in #politics3 years ago

Because of distancing rules related to COVID-19, police were out looking for New Year's Eve parties this week, in an effort to crack down on anyone who might be breaking the newly imposed rules.

The "super-spreader" events as they have been referred to, have become a recent priority for law enforcement and they've taken to focusing on that activity over the holiday. This is because it was expected that many might gather and host parties for the holiday. For this reason they were reportedly on the lookout for any parties that they might be able to put a stop to, arrest anyone if needed etc.

In their efforts of patrolling for New Year's Eve parties they managed to arrest dozens of people, at least 90 different people were arrested. They were cited for violating the safer-at-home order that has been put into effect by the county, hundreds of others received warnings.

Police authorities have been clear about seeking out these events and taking action against anyone breaking the rules and knowing this you can only wonder what other crimes might have been going on at the time that the police weren't focused on, because their resources were being spent on policing parties. They can't place every activity at the top of their list, to allocate resources and officers etc to focus on. Since they made it quite clear they would be looking for these types of events, we can assume they placed these gatherings at the top of their list of things to spend time cracking down on.

Instead of focusing on violent activities and having those take priority, officers spent time on individuals who were with friends and family, celebrating the holiday, people who willingly held events and decided on their own to attend an event etc, in a voluntary manner. The worst part is that the victims in this scenario are forced to pay for those security services that they might feel have violated their natural rights, and yet they still have no other choice but to go with the service that they are given, whether they like it or not.
