RE: Do "Safe Spaces" and "Trigger Warnings" Have A Place In Society?

in #politics9 years ago

The overall problem with "safe spaces," and "trigger warnings," is that they foster an unrealistic approach to the real world. As you repeatedly stated in your post, the real world, and life in general, is a cruel teacher of what it takes to survive on this planet. Hurricanes, tornadoes, tsunamis, earthquakes, and all other forms of natural disaster do not provide "trigger warnings," nor do they offer a "safe space" to wait things out until you are ready to handle them. Likewise, man-made disasters, all forms of transportation accidents, medical atrocities and pre-existing health conditions do not offer trigger warnings and safe spaces. The next holocaust isn't going to announce itself with a trigger warning: HERE COMES TYRANNY AND DESPOTISM, RUN NOW IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE MURDERED AS A RESULT OF YOUR ETHNIC OR RELIGIOUS VIEWS...and the only safe spaces it will provide will be gulags where dissenters are kept. These things have no place in society. Life does not come with guarantees against being offended. As a matter of fact, the only guarantee it does offer is death when it's all over...so essentially, life is the trigger warning for death, and death is the only safe space for everybody...the offended and offenders alike.
